A thought came into my head just now: Say we wanted to go down onto a planet, explore, and do some missions No corp or alliance warbarge in orbit giving us stuff, just yourself and a couple friends. How would you get anything? RDV's and supply depots would be nowhere in sight, as there is no warbarge. Then it occured to me, how would we even get a mission, or even get to these areas planetside? Then it came to me:
city hubs, and Blueprint passes
I'll start with the city hubs. They would be essiently be the stations of the planets. The shape and size of the hub would vary based on the traffic that planet gets. A fairly popular planet might have a city style hub, and a low traffic planet in NULLsec might have a Wild west-type town. In this town would be a couple districts in which would have all the necessities that we merc need:
The market district would have as the name states a market where us mercs can buy our BP passes, or if need be, physical equipment (will get to that later on). the
social district would have areas (like bars or something) where people ingame can meet up, form squads, talk about doing missions together, or just chill and talk about their latest conquests across the stars.
the agent district would be the smallest, but one of the most important areas. It would have a agent office where you could go and ask to get missions in the wilderness outside of the city hub, and return to claim for prize for completing your mission
Lastly, the deployment district would be at the edge of the city hub, and this is where you would set out to do whatever you want in the wilderness of the district (as in the planetary district) that you are on. This is where you would get your equipment in HIsec, as you won't be allowed to just carry around a gun going pew pew at everything you see (in LOsec and NULLsec you can however, as CONCORD gives 0 fucks about LOsec and NULLsec ), otherwise you'll be shot by whatever guard is nearby. Therefore, at the deployment area, you would use your BP pass that you have, pay a fee, and something would build you whatever you want, be it a Ion pistol or a fully fitted HAV. After you got everythign you need, you could just simply walk up to a gate, press some buttons, and it will open for you to go out and start causing havoc!
That's all I got, what do you guys think?
Peace, Godin

This seems neat (also bump!) but what exactly is a Blueprint Pass and what does it do?

This could be interesting, I like the ideas....I think it plays on the idea of immersion.

Yea very good ideas, all these kinds of things will be possible in future, no limitations, makes sense that these things will once be made avaliable. I would imagine going into bars, shops all kinds of things... There is thousands of cities on many thousands of planets. Of course the core things must be developed initially then we can focus on making more possibilities and expand on everything later.

Ah, well Blue print passes would equate to the BPC's and BPO's in our heads. BPO's would be permanent (and good to have, but getting them would be hard and/or expensive), and BPC's would have certain runs before they expire (but are a lot easier to obtain). these would also work for manufacturing.

Yea, that would be cool too. There's many stations in one system, so why can't there be many hubs on one planet?... actually, a planet would be dust's system on the ground.

I'd want a city with civilians to run around in and explore, but I don't think people would take kindly to space marines running around in an urban environment though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvHvYZNtbQQ

We would be in personal clones during this time, like we are in EVE. SO we would on the surface look normal.

Goblin, I like the idea. I donGÇÖt think this is something that they are likely to do for release because it involves a number of components such as creating NPC people (I think they want to start with just Drones) that I donGÇÖt think are part of their immediate development plan. However, it would be a great way to add immersion, flavor, and variety to the Legion experience. This is the type of idea that they could base an expansion on.

Yea, that's what I was thinking. Who knows, it might make it into release (if they decide on doing it of course).

yeah cool vision. I would be with fox gaden, in that ccp wont do something as elaborate as whole villages. I assume there will be just standardized warbarges in orbit around every planet, just like the customs offices now. Or maybe they beef up said custom offices to have a stock of jump clones for your everyday merc. In any case, they will go the shortest way, with the lowest amount of new assets.
Id absolutely love planetary hubs though. Especially if we could build some ourselves. Or build command centers and stuff and extract ressources, like in eve. make all of these countless planets have districts in hi and lo sec, make them accessible and we will bring them to life!
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

1: You would launch from the station, and go down to the district of your choice. Warbarges are not for this sort of thing Warbarges would be for going down to a specific district, and you can launch vehicles and installations from this, while you wouldn't be able to do this regularly (Also, you're not at war with only one person, or a squad, so why would have a warbarge in orbit? ).
2: That's the plan for player owned districts. As far as the "countless districts in hi and losec", only the ones that are owned by players, as I said (so hisec is out, and some in losec).
