You guys have to understand. If you look up Metroid you'll find out there's a bunch of people who hate the Metroid Prime games JUST because they're FPS adventure instead of sidescroller like Super Metroid.
Not everyone is a FPS enthusiast. People like myself and the OP are attracted to Dust because it's different from the other shooters, which often to us seem like mindless point-and-shoot games that promote war and violence. |

Metriod Prime series was by far the best of the games so far; brought samus more to life than most people ever known.

Indeed.
Though I didn't really like Echo's with the whole limited ammo thing, and Corruption was a bit short.

I do agree with the OP. It's by far a fascinating experience, especially for the console based gamer. No other is game is quite compelling and have a plethora of avenues to explore. It allowed my former CEO, Jadek, to create Xerg which is ingenious of itself.
These experiences I had in New Eden cannot be replaced by a dynamic battlefield of Battlefield. Or the quick scoping, twitch shooting of Call of Duty. Planetside 2 is fun for a moment and then the luster fades.
Here we can be villains or "good" guys. Here espionage is a action away. Teamwork and tactical strategy turns the average battle into a will of minds.
Dust 514 is quite a mature undertaking and it should be acknowledged for all that it accomplished and attempted to accomplish on a console. |

Besides Metroid Prime, DUST 514 is the only FPS I've played that makes me feel as if I'm actually there.
And the whole risk/reward thing means I'll never have to worry about becoming Godlike to the point where entire campaigns of enemies can't destroy me, which is when games become boring.

How do you define "everyone"? The number of players online at any one time has not taken a sudden dive since the fanfest. In fact, I can't really tell if there is any difference to the weeks before the fanfest (you know, with all the "events" and all). Could be the numbers are ever so slightly higher now though. |

I'm still playing intermittently. Like I always hav been. It's still fun. The big name teams have mostly vanished/moved on, but the less experienced players don't seem to be stopping and if anything, their numbers have increased because they aren't getting pubstomped as hard.
I prefer Syndicate's co-op mode (ignore the single player campaign, though) to DUST's lack of any PvE options. And even though it's not FPS, I'm rather into Armored Core: Verdict Day for PvP (and it has a decent-ish story mode with two player co-op through the whole story). Haven't been playing recently, but quite enjoyed Resistance back in the day too. |

No not all....I myself have played bf and all those and they all fall short of Dust....Dust is the best fps out there IMO....but it depends what u like better...good gameplay and ideas...or stunning visuals with gameplay that eventually gets old.

Dust is the only FPS that I have played for more than a month or two since Doom (used to play that PvP in high school computer lab).
Disappointed that all the really cool things that were supposed to make Dust are now apart of Legion's game plan. I'm not going to grumble, I will stick around as long as my corpmates do or the game is shut down. I'm not spending another real life cent either.
Sorry for shooting you in the back. Now please look elsewhere so I can continue.

Really? I got to where I had too much ammo in that game. The thing that pissed me off was that you barely even get to use the annihilator missile attack before the game ends. |
