Hello everyone,
I started Dust 514 a little over a year ago back in Chrome when I came back from a year break of playing Eve. I started Eve eight years ago and still actively play. In dust I ran with Dust University for most of my career, even participating in a few of the PC matches that worked with my timezone. I generally run jack of all of all trades with my racial preference Gallente with a soft spot for dropships but the biggest thing I like to see is my wallet filling up.
At Fanfest I expected to be disappointed by a lack of progress with Dust 514. I was not expecting to see the biggest public relations screw up I have ever seen, but I discovered I am more invested into Dust 514 than I am with Eve. If and when Legion begins I will play it, but in the meantime I really want to CCP develop in game tools that make Dust 514 more enjoyable along with any cool new content that can be developed for both games included.
I am a cool headed logical thinker, and will look at the overarching goal of an idea as well as look at the details. I have experience managing a live action role playing game and fully realize when a system is balanced on paper players immediately create cracks and break it.
I look forward to hearing from the community and can be reached by mail to both this character and my Eve character Sylvia Lafayette. I'm also open to squad up with anyone if they want and would even like to try my hand at getting to PC level. My gun game is acceptable its working as a part of a team I'd like to fine tune. I can also be reached through twitter @Lafayette514 and skype alexh3d
Thank you for your time, Adelia Lafayette

What are your views on the balance and current state of each of the five classes of DUST (Scout, assault, logistics, commando, heavy)?
Can you provide some examples of constructive posting or something you've done for the community?

Balance is difficult to determine. My experience is pub matches and what I have run and run into which is at the whim of scotty. If I can find a group to do PC with I will have a better view but currently they seem closer to balance than in the past with the exception of chrome seeming to have a good balance but that may be due to lack of options needing balanced. I do think the cloak needs some work but not debilitating whack with the nerf hammer and I cannot recall seeing assaults over commandos. The heavy logi relationship seems to still be healthy but I would love to see some sort of shield repair equipment.
Not long ago I was in Dust University helping teach people, dropships in particular. I will be honest I have suffered a period of burnout from the game recently. Most of my constructive post are buried in the past
a recent post asking for custom matches https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2145157#post2145157 I view a tool like this as very important because it give players the control to create their own fun instead of relying on Scotty.

When it comes to Legion Development, where do you want to see the game taken? Give us a rough roadmap of the next year in CPM1 as to what you would want developed in Legion.
You're not very well known by the community at large. Where are you from, what is your background (gaming mostly, maybe with pertinent professional experience), and what would you bring to the CPM1 if elected?
What would you be aiming to do for DUST 514 until it has run it's life cycle? What would you like to see added to DUST 514, or features from Legion dropped into DUST 514 in the interim time between now and Legion's Launch (and post-Legion Launch if DUST 514 is still run concurrently?
Once you go Black, you just never go back!

I really want to see the return of corp battles but with more tools to allow for these style of matches to be created on the fly with a lobby style where anyone can be invited. This is something that would allow many people to blow off the steam generated from running public matches along with giving us the tools to create player run tournaments and events. My experience with PC was from when Dust Uni still had a district and it went as well as you could imagine. It is something I would like more experience with so I can better come up with constructive ideas on how to improve it but I am willing to talk to PC participants to get a better idea of what could be improved.
The overall road map presented at fanfest for dust looks like a solid goal and is much the idea of dust I was sold on when I first discovered it. The only current details about Legion I have to work with are the DX11 requirements and skill progression. I do hope the barrier to entry for PC's to play Legion is low much like Eve is good about staying accessible. I currently have a 7 year old laptop I can force to play two instances of Eve on low settings as an example. Without more details on CCP Z's skill progression system all I can say is the idea having the system more accessible so you can decide on a role and smoothly go down it is a good one. I do want to see the ability to pick and choose to still be an option.
Without more experience and communication with CCP its hard to determine what I would want to be developed in one year for Legion as I do not know their development pace. The lofty goal would be a working alpha dust players could join by the end of the year but that is not my decision. What I can work on is the communication practices between the CPM and CCP so a year later when CPM2 is elected it is a smooth transition that allows full communication between CCP and CPM speeding development on Dust and Legion.
I'm from the United States. I grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Florida about 5 years ago. I started gaming on the Super Nintendo. My first FPS was doom followed by a Quake demo, I was very young back then and DOS was still the main OS. Most of my gaming has been taken up by Eve. Other FPS experiences are Halo and Unreal Tourney 2004. I generally played FPS causally until Dust came along which I stuck with because it was made by CCP. I would of been gone about a year ago otherwise. I'm proud of climbing from about a 0.5 kdr to my 2.51 kdr over the past year. I mainly got it up because dieing cost isk which I don't like losing. Also fun thing I like to do is wave in Eve Uni's main channel which I have access to as an alumni. Its fun to remind capsuleers that dust still exists.

Adelia,
Glad that you are coming onboard for the race. Do you mind telling us a bit more about you personally? Age, where you are from, education level, other experiences that are might be helpful as a CPM...that kind of thing. Also, would you mind letting us know why you feel that the role of CPM is critical with the EVE: Legion announcement?
Additionally, here are a few questions for you (same as I pose to all candidates):
1) Other than the forums how do you intend to collect and communicate requests, needs, POV of the community? In particular, those outside your corp / alliance.
2) What level of interaction would you like to establish between the CPM and CSM?
3) What are the top 3 short term (next 2mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make? I'm looking for concrete examples that are realistic to achieve.
4) What are the top 3 mid term (next 6mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make?
5) In Spring of 2015, when CPM1's term is up, what would you want people to have said about your tenure as a CPM member?
6) Will you be creating a channel for folks to meet and sqd with you during the period before the election?
Thank you for your time.

As far as service to the community, I can confirm that Adelia Lafayette was one of my Instructors when I was Director of Education at DUST University. He was also head of the DUST University R&D department for a while, until he voluntarily stepped down from the position to make room for someone who was better at crunching numbers and playing with stats.

CPM is the players first line of defense for players by telling CCP no don't do that to the more extreme changes and or announcements about Dust. With Dust in such a fragile state from the Legion announcement its important that CCP listens the focus group they have with CPM.
1) I am thinking of creating an in game channel players could join. Its a shame we don't have the channel manager from eve because then I could point people to the default dust514 channel listed on there. I will also be accessible to mail in game along with skype, twitter, and if someone points me to the IRC channel I'll go back to lurking in there as well. I'm also open to suggestions to more avenues of communication.
2) My first priority is stabilizing the interaction between CCP and CPM, but I would like to see lines of communication established with CSM when the interaction between the two games grows in the future. Even if it is just sitting around and watching the latest trailer twice a year with all three games interacting.
3) Custom/Corp battles or some way to better control who your playing with/against. Currently the only way to set a match up is either through PC which can only be done once every 24 hours per district you own and PC is not set up to fill this niche, or attempt to queue synch in FW which is unreliable at best. I'm not familiar enough with PC to suggest improvements but I'm sure there is still room for improvement there. My last encouragement would be more communication about Dust from CCP. They have a strong start with open communication about Legion. Now is the time to play catch up with Dust.
4) By the mid term point we will have seen how effective CCP became at communicating and can fine tune that process. At this point I'd like to see the last two heavy weapons come out. I heard it takes around three months to put out a new weapon and if it doesn't eat to much development time I'd be partial to a heavy flame/plasma thrower or over sized laser rifle. If the custom corp battles is not achievable in the short term I would still be pressuring for it, even after my term for CPM is done.
5) If I do my job right and everything goes smoothly I'd be happy with "who was that guy?" much like the food industry a job well done isn't noticed.
6) This is a good idea and I'll start thinking of a name and secure it with my eve character. Also, thank you Fox Gaden for reminding me of the R&D stuff I did back when the game was still fairly new. I did mostly crazy idea testing that was quite fun.

Got talk to Adelia a fair bit at Fanfest. He was nearly always asking the Dev's the right questions and knows a thing or two about piloting I can tell you.
He still helps in the D-UNI forums with questions using an alt, so I can confirm he's a friend to the new players.
Read through the answers he's already given in his thread and you'll see that he is a candidate worthy of your attention. o7

Can you give me some examples of how you've been helping to contribute to the community before you decided to run for cpm? I am aware you have helped new players much like Dennie has in your own way as a few other candidates have. Why should I vote for you when I must choose between you, dennie, mossellia, argetlam, sirmanboy, and appia, who all seem to be basing a large part of their campaigns on protecting new players, fixing NPE, and the like?

Hello!
Had a read of your OP and would like to ask a couple of questions on an area that i thought was quite interesting:
Quote:If and when Legion begins I will play it, but in the meantime I really want to CCP develop in game tools that make Dust 514 more enjoyable along with any cool new content that can be developed for both games included.
I think its fair to say that CPM1 will have something to do with Legion but i wouldnt assume it will be extensive given that i can see the CSM becoming more involved with Legion over time as well given thats the market CCP are aiming legion at.
What do you feel will happen to the Dust 514 PS3 community when Legion is announced? what would be your approach to the comms of this being effectively 'the end' and what would be your recomendation to CCP on ending this product line, how should they communicate it? what would be the most effective way to say good bye to players? is there even a way?
Any thoughts you have would be great to read
Thanks
