No he is right, how incredibly mad would eve players be if Eve had all of it's future content stripped away and moved to a console game that looked very similar and was also a space-RTS-MMO?

Because that is EXACTLY what just happened to Dust. In this hypothetical scenario of yours, are PCs heavily limited in terms of power and only a few years away from being completely abandoned as a platform? Because if not, the comparison doesn't really work.
Oh I assume you mean to say in this scenario, would the platform in question have more power than is being used, and that other developers have shown that you can easily get 64 v 64, and 128 v 128 battles on much large and more detailed maps that also include trees.
Oh right, that is because the PS3 has a game that is 2-3 years old than dust that has those features. PS3 wasn't holding dust back, cheap chinese labor is what is holding dust back.
