Not saying the Laser isn't good at it's job goldfish just strongly disagree it's more versatile than the MD which can be used in more situations than "sit across an open field and kill everything that comes in sight. " . Oh and my ACR laughs at your puny little ASCR .

" . Oh and my ACR laughs at your puny little ASCR . To each their own but having run in the 6 man Commando teams I will never underestimate the value of a good Amarrian with a Laser Rifle. One can and should lock down entire sections of the map as I like to say and as the Commando's primary role is ranged suppression and support having both CQC and long ranged fire arms on one heavily armoured unit is undeniable. Not to mention that the utility of having a strong armour tank allows me to make best use of Nanohives, Repair tools, and my personal favourite and part of our established corp doctrine 100% Wyrkomi Nanite Injectors. LR laughs at both your ACR and MD.
But ahh my friend .... what use is your Nanohives when they are destroyed ?
What use are your injectors when clones are permakilled by explosions ?
What use is your armor when when the bonuses of the weapon are against them ?
And the most important question of all ......... what use is your laser pointer when one does not have to step in sight of you to do all this ?

The answer is very simple..... A smart minmatar is in no way obligated to walk straight into that scenario and has the speed to disengage and approach from another angle and actually have weapons that can adapt to a multitude of scenarios instead of one "perfect" one . Meanwhile your scenario makes you effectively immobile when you are already slow. "I'll beat you if you fight fair ." To paraphrase the old holoreel gives me little incentive to fight fair .
Any scenario that requires foolishness on your enemies part is in no way perfect .

Pretty sure we were discussion flexibility of suit design. Amarr does it the best. More durable, greater sources of reps on main tank, and two of the more ubiquitous long range rifles in the game.
In the role of suppressive fire power and unit durability the Amarr Commando comes out on top, that is the Commando's role.
We agree to disagree then because I prefer mobility , adaptability on the fly . and to have more actual use at more than one point on the map that forces me to set up camp to get the maximum benefit out of my gear .
