Yes, absolutely. Not pulling the "it is a different game" thing and immediately answering the Three Big Questions ("My SP, my AUR, my name") the reaction would have been "this is good new. I feel really sorry for the console only guys or those that bought the PS3 for Legion though." Only slightly negative there.
The fact of Legion, assuming it is just DUST 514 on PC (seriously, no dev wants to comment yet if it is one or another) is not a bad thing. It is probably good. The "I am CCP Rouge", "Here is Project Legion", and "bye!" as he walked off the stage was the worst way to deliver news short of an oncologist delivering the news that your tumor is benign by burning a cross in your front yard.

Hmmm... guess I was a bit too subtle.
I was suggesting that the CCP announcement about the future of Dust 514 could easily have been "we are shutting it down and concentrating on Valkyrie".
No Legion. No PC. No PS4. No FPS in New Eden.
That is what most game developers would do in this situation.

Lol, they could have just as well said, "Well folks, we lost a lot of players and we're down to about maybe 5,000. Sorry, that just doesn't cut it for us. We're dropping the console market like a bad cancer. That's not enough people to even sneeze about. To make it up to you though, we are giving away free Quafe proto dropsuits of every race and kind come Legion."
That would have been about all they needed to wrap up the sweet and sour of it.
