" As reported by Crave gaming site Destructoid, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick told attendees at L.A.'s Milken conference last week that his company is ready to invest $500 million in creating, marketing and supporting Bungie's project.
The company also confirmed to Reuters that that money will be spend over a decade GÇö meaning Activision not only sees Destiny as one of the company's potential tentpole games, but as a juggernaut franchise they intend to exploit for years to come. "
Kinda knocks "laser focused" out of the ring huh?

I dont fault CCP for moving the game to the PC but I just cant put effort into a game where they dont even have a concrete idea if they are going to back it or not. There have been to many "maybe's, visions and hopes" for me to invest any of my life into it. I might have given Legion a chance but they will be competing with Destiny for my time and I just dont see that happening.

They said that the Beta will launch sometime in July with a launch date of September. Plenty of time man.

Kinda knocks "laser focused" out of the ring huh? Did they say it would remain Destiny and also not change formats? Sounds like CCP so far.
There was no comment made about that but Destiny is already a cross platform game as it is being launched for the PS3/PS4/360/One so I dont see that being an issue. As this is Activision bankrolling Bungie, I dont see many crazy off-kilter changes coming without a really really good reason.

On the other hand, anything i have heard about destiny is positive, and Bungie will meet most of there promises becuase they have in the past.
A Dust fanboy may argue that destiny has a larger budget, and dust doesn't have 25% of Destinys budget...
But who cares? Destiny is better, so i will spend money on it! Why should anyone stand up and support a less developed game full of empty promises when there is a better game around the corner.
CCP has promised us exploration for dust, PvE, player trading, and tons more that we will never get. CCP actually has to start a new game to get this stuff right!!
Destiny will have its promised content on launch, and new content will come on a daily.
Dont support the weak ( when it comes to gaming)
Lets not put Bungie on too much of a pedestal here. Destiny will have its random bugs and glitches just like every other first pass game. There will be things that they dont implement because it doesnt work correctly and some stuff they just decide not to do. What I do like though is that there is a shown commitment to the game as a tentpole for both Activision and Bungie from the get go. Its not a side project, its not the low man on the totem pole. Both companies are going to fight tooth and nail to make this game work so I expect to see things fixed as quickly as they can and, given the size of these companies, that Sony will tast track any releases and patches that need to be done.
Again, this isnt a 'CCP is bad' post. Its just that Dust/Legion is a side project while Destiny is the main attraction. Legion might end up being a fun little game but its just not going to have the support that Destiny will.

*sheds tear* I remember.
But that you two have any relation, this post is completely different in approach.
That is all.
I can say that I have zero relation to planeside. I honestly have no interest in the game. Ive heard its an even worse grind than Dust and has aspects that are P2W.
I cannot comment on the gameplay of Destiny as its not released I have zero knowledge of the capabilities of the devs at Bungie except from what Ive seen and their past work I have no clue if the game is a going to be riddled with bugs from the get go
What I do know is that there is a lot at stake with this game and it has a ton of support behind it. I might get bit on the arse again but I think its a safer bet. I like that people are literally putting their money where their mouth is on this.

Shion Typhon wrote:While I am eagerly anticipating Destiny as much as the next guy, Bobby Kotick is a complete tard and there is no goddamn way they are spending $500 mil on "supporting" Destiny if they ever want to see a profit. That's like the full dev & marketing costs of 3-4 major AAA titles.
Over a 10 year period? Its a lot of money but Id say that is believable
