So I was lurking in reddit and stumbled upon this post and was immediately saddened by the fact that people actually did something as stupid and dishonoring as this while they attend the FanFest that was organized for them. Glad they caught the people (surprisingly many) that did that.

At first I was going to say, ohh what did they write, "F U CCP" or something like that? Then I realised this was more of an attack against one person / character.
That's a shame really, however there are those in the world that are total tossers like this. Glad to see it was resolved and maybe people will think a little more in the future before they do stupid things like that. That being said, its not the end of the world as long as the targeted individual is cool with the whole thing.
I am more curious as to the hows and WHY this took place? Was it a joke that got taken too far or was it something more?

Honestly, the scratched name incident is something that I agree deserves heavy punishment for and the perps were thankfully caught and brought to face the music (queue Beneath the Asteroids). As for the Goon sticker, it didn't really cover anyone's name and it wasn't offensive in any way so I'm wondering if people were punished for that as well? The post you linked didn't seem to mention anything about that other than about the scratched name.

So CSM chairperson getting in front of FanFest and trying to get some guy to commit suicide is a 1 month ban while scratching out a name is a permanent ban for everyone involved.
I wonder if CCP is going to make a handbook to make some guidelines on how long ***holes need to be banned because they don't realize IT IS A GOD DAMN GAME.

if you ever went to fanfest you would know ingame mentality is not tolerated outside the game by any players and this is what makes fanfest enjoyable. enemies putting aside their differences in game for the good of the community at large. i was at fanfest with my ingame eve enemies and we had a ball... i will be killing them later tonight no doubt. anyone who turns ingame issues into RL issues deserves a complete ban and this would go for dust also.
what they did was not an attack on ccp or a bit of fun it was designed to grief a player in real life
all those years of playing and lots of money wasted on a childish thing like this. they got what they deserved

Cool, if I ever go to fanfest I'll make sure to bring a lot of friends with me because IDGAF what EvE mentality is.

this was a gift to the community for supporting 11 years of eve online. ccp paid for it but it belongs to those eve players. defacing it was not an attack on ccp but an attack on the players. if you are condoning this then maybe you are more of an ass than i thought you were

It was said by Dev's (I can't remember where) that they just laughed at the goonbee and discarded the matter as "Goons doing their stuff"
Stickers are bit easier to remove than scratches as they (the guys fixing the statue) have to remove the surrounding plates as well (this was also mentioned somewhere)
