I wonder why PC gamers have such a bad rep
I really don't care what platform one prefers, they all offer their own advantages it just comes down to what suits you as an individual.
However, I want to respond to a few things at once.
As to the OP, I'm a console gamer, but depending on where those sales figures come from they might be misleading. Are they only boxed physical sales or is digital included as well. If digital are not included PC would see much better sales figures in reality as digital distribution is bigger on PC due to less limitations on hard drive space mostly I think.
As to the Microsoft thing, last I read about it its not so much that they are looking to sell XBOX they are considering splitting it off from Microsoft and making it its own company. This happens from time to time. And what would happen is Microsoft shareholders would receive equivalent stock in the new XBOX company, whatever its called. If you didn't know, Comcast was actually once a division of AT&T that got split off from the parent company and has grown immensely since then and is technically now in competition with the company it split off from.

In fact, both will prosper anyways and will likely unify as the line between PCs and consoles begins to blur. Mark my words. One day, you and I will not be able to tell apart a PC from a console whether by its form, function, and possibly even its price. The only difference at that point will be the brand name.
Honestly I would welcome this as this will finally kill off this whole PC-Master-Race vs. Console Elite nonsense.
They are becoming more and more like each other as each Platform tries to add the features of from the other that consumers want. Thus the Steam Box. But I am totally with you, the PC vs console arguments are only lightly less dumb than console fanboy wars. Gamers need to play what they like and respect others wishes to do the same.
As a brief side note on the Steam Box, I sort of don't get the point to it because they have a mutitude of companies making various ones with different specs, which defeats one of (in my opinion) the advantages of a console which is having specs standardized for easier game development and optimization. The Steam Box is just a less functional PC from what I know of it.

But what will makes me sour is asinine comments like "lol.. GTA5".
Agreed, sorry then PC has some awesome exclusives as well. Every platform does, thus why gaming is such an expensive hobby/addiction.

The point your missing is that the console consumer market is the only demographic to ever hit a billion $ sales mark in its opening week. That is more than all the lotr movies opening weeks combined, that is more than any new jay z album will ever make. So when saying console games are inconsequential it's like saying everyone who will sees movies is inconsequential compare your leading sales of the best PC game and compare that to console, consoles sell more. Console gamers are the gamer market deny it if you want but it's true.
I'm not denying it at all, I gree with you. I'm a console gamer through and through. PS3, XBOX360, and Wii last gen. PS4 and WiiU so far this gen. I'm just saying that PC gaming isn't dead either and that depending on what metrics are being used to measure game sales many of the sales on PC aren't being counted.
I did also start a thread yesterday after reading how much that Activision is spending on Destiny that CCP is running scared from the console market and for the long term health they probably should because it is where the big boys like 2K, Activision, and EA battle it out and CCP are like tykes in the big boy pool. They need to go back into the shallow end where things are safer.
That is not a dis on PCs or PC gamers, its just that developing for console games is higher risk because you are going up against companies who will throw a couple hundred million dollars at a game without batting an eye.

Doesn't that speak more for gaming as a form of entertainment being more popular than traditional forms of entertainment, like cinema or music? Personally though, I disagree with the example of using GTA5 as a stock rule for the whole demographic of console gamers because it is one game amongst hundreds, if not thousands, of games on console and being blinded by numbers is hardly a objective analysis of the real demographic of console gamers.
Probably the best way to compare would be to look at the sales figures PC vs console for a multiplatform game. But really does it matter? The fact is that PC and consoles are both going strong at the moment and are both viable forms for gaming for at least the next few years. I know consoles will be around for quite awhile because Michael Pachter said they would be dying and the dumbass is always wrong
Now as far as Legion goes, PC is probably the safer bet for CCP. But that does not excuse them for shady business practices with their sales for a game they knew they couldn't deliver their promises on nor does it guarantee that they will be able to deliver on their promises this time. It also means that they have indeed failed in the original selling point of connecting a PC game to a console one.

Actually, I think it has more to do with Planetside 2 coming to PS4 than a Borderlands clone made by Bungie.
Maybe, I was just using Destiny as an example really of the obscene amounts of money the big players in gaming can put into these giant multiplatform games. Its almost like if Roger Corman movie trying to go up against The Avengers II.
In fact I'm going to use that from now on CCP is the Roger Corman of gaming

Bit harsh ;p
LOL to stick with my movie analogy, sometimes you get a Waterworld. And I may be being a little harsh on CCP but I am jilted, plus as their recent failures keep adding up their one success begins to look more and more like a fluke.
