Every platform does, thus why gaming is such an expensive hobby/addiction. The point your missing is that the console consumer market is the only demographic to ever hit a billion $ sales mark in its opening week. That is more than all the lotr movies opening weeks combined, that is more than any new jay z album will ever make. So when saying console games are inconsequential it's like saying everyone who will sees movies is inconsequential compare your leading sales of the best PC game and compare that to console, consoles sell more.
