Oww.. that butthurt must really sizzle. You would make a valid point if _all_ console games had the revenue of GTA5.
Cardio Therapy wrote: To play PC games we need to buy a pc which is way more expensive than a new consol and we need to upgrade it regularly to catch up with the new games. consoles have around 5 years live cicle and you dont think if a game will run or not, because it is made to run on your console.
No. It is not way more expensive, it is slightly more expensive. Look it up and get educated you plebian philistine.

No. Mainstream PCs are, laptops are but gaming PCs aren't being replaced by tablets. If anything that is being replaced by tablets, it is consoles. Starting with the handhelds.

Then there is Blizzard that made a ridiculous amount of money each month, on one game, on PC for ten years. Suck it, peasant. |

In fact, both will prosper anyways and will likely unify as the line between PCs and consoles begins to blur. Mark my words. One day, you and I will not be able to tell apart a PC from a console whether by its form, function, and possibly even its price. The only difference at that point will be the brand name.
Honestly I would welcome this as this will finally kill off this whole PC-Master-Race vs. Console Elite nonsense.
I don't think it will be that rosy. I think consoles will continue this trend of going from pure gaming devices to being more of a media hub (what I use my PS3 for) to basically become something nothing bigger than a Chromecast or Vita TV with streaming services. It makes sense too for someone like Sony become a service rather than a hardware platform.
On the PC side of things, I think mainstream PCs will become modular in the future and be subscription based much like Razer's Project Christine as it lets the user tailor their experience and need. |

Oh, don't get me wrong, while I will always recommend people to build themselves a PC over buying a console, I don't care what you prefer to do your gaming jam on.
But what makes me sour is asinine comments like "lol.. GTA5". |

As a brief side note on the Steam Box, I sort of don't get the point to it because they have a mutitude of companies making various ones with different specs, which defeats one of (in my opinion) the advantages of a console which is having specs standardized for easier game development and optimization. The Steam Box is just a less functional PC from what I know of it.
The reason you see so many PC vendors is because no one really owns the PC platform, Apple being probably the only exception to that as they have a specific set of specs for each Mac (Yes, Macs are Personal Computers too, get over it) and that is why there is only one company that assembles Apple computers are Apple even if they buy the same components that you see in Dell or HP computers.
It will be a less functional PC that boots you directly into SteamOS Big Picture Mode but if you have some basic knowledge in Linux and with a bit of tinkering, you can get access to the desktop instead. |

But what will makes me sour is asinine comments like "lol.. GTA5". Agreed, sorry then PC has some awesome exclusives as well. Every platform does, thus why gaming is such an expensive hobby/addiction. The point your missing is that the console consumer market is the only demographic to ever hit a billion $ sales mark in its opening week. That is more than all the lotr movies opening weeks combined, that is more than any new jay z album will ever make. So when saying console games are inconsequential it's like saying everyone who will sees movies is inconsequential compare your leading sales of the best PC game and compare that to console, consoles sell more. Console gamers are the gamer market deny it if you want but it's true.
Doesn't that speak more for gaming as a form of entertainment being more popular than traditional forms of entertainment, like cinema or music? Personally though, I disagree with the example of using GTA5 as a stock rule for the whole demographic of console gamers because it is one game amongst hundreds, if not thousands, of games on console and being blinded by numbers is hardly a objective analysis of the real demographic of console gamers. |

The fact that you feel superior to another human shows who the real peasant is here. Next I bet you'll be petitioning for your local government to have Jewish people added into a registry. I would suck it, but unlike you CCP Fanboys I don't give sexual favors on a video game forum.
You must be on your medication. Want to get back to me when you can make a coherent sentence? |

I did also start a thread yesterday after reading how much that Activision is spending on Destiny that CCP is running scared from the console market and for the long term health they probably should because it is where the big boys like 2K, Activision, and EA battle it out and CCP are like tykes in the big boy pool. They need to go back into the shallow end where things are safer.
Actually, I think it has more to do with Planetside 2 coming to PS4 than a Borderlands clone made by Bungie. |

Probably the best way to compare would be to look at the sales figures PC vs console for a multiplatform game. But really does it matter? The fact is that PC and consoles are both going strong at the moment and are both viable forms for gaming for at least the next few years. I know consoles will be around for quite awhile because Michael Pachter said they would be dying and the dumbass is always wrong Now as far as Legion goes, PC is probably the safer bet for CCP. But that does not excuse them for shady business practices with their sales for a game they knew they couldn't deliver their promises on nor does it guarantee that they will be able to deliver on their promises this time. It also means that they have indeed failed in the original selling point of connecting a PC game to a console one.
Thank you for a well thought through reply. :)
As for Legion being "exclusive" to PC, I think it is as you say, that they want to risk less with something as complex as Dust was and so it makes more sense to put Valkyrie on PS4 (hope for some cross play!) and in retrospect, there is a lot of things we can wish were better. |

Maybe, I was just using Destiny as an example really of the obscene amounts of money the big players in gaming can put into these giant multiplatform games. Its almost like if Roger Corman movie trying to go up against The Avengers II. In fact I'm going to use that from now on CCP is the Roger Corman of gaming
And then you have games like Star Wars the Old Republic, which I think EA still hasn't recovered from and I have no idea how much money they spent on Warhammer Online.
Bit harsh ;p |

Bit harsh ;p SWTOR actually seems to be doing pretty good as a F2P game: http://venturebeat.com/2014/01/20/10-online-pc-games-that-made-more-than-100m-in-microtransaction-sales-last-year/And one important thing to remember when you compare PC's to consoles is that Valve (which is privately owned), with something like 60 million users, don't publish their financials. No one knows how much money they make, but it's a lot.
It does stop there. Look at Wargaming.net and Riot Games as well, they are making a lot of amount of money as well. |
