So ever since the rage on Thursday and Friday on the forums, there's been a rise in snipers using thales (and charges) from seemingly invisible locations behind their redline. It took me forever to find out where they were hiding on each map, and I only found out after catching a guy doing it earlier. This is just a public service announcement to those of you, who like me, tried counter-sniping and just can't seem to find the person.
Tl;dr, check the top of the enemy mcc!
They usually take a dropship on top of it at the start of the match when nobody is looking.
You're cloaked, not invisible. I can see you running at me, I'm gonna shotgun you first.

This is a very old tactic. I remember them doing this last year. Back then you needed to use afterburners to reach the top of the MCC, not sure if you need them now.
This is actually the best spot to provide overwatch for your team too (if you know what you are doing)

MMC Sniping is a valid tactic.
You try.
It's hard to get in the right position on the MCC, and the Caldari MMC is super glitchy, I only bother with the Gallente MCC.
You have to find a valid spot to put your ammo too.
Also, extremely easily counter sniped. |

I had a mate that used to do it back when Corp Battles were a thing. He would jump in a Dropship, turn on the afterburners and shoot to the top. They tend not to do them now (well until you pointed it out I didn't realize lol) because in some maps you can't snipe from the MCC effectively (mostly the maps with large indoor areas).

Could've sworn NULL missiles killed the snipers up there.

I love how everyone calls redline snipers cowards... but they do nothing about it.

They are using Thale's because it has the highest range and damage for a sniper rifle. A Thale will knock your head clean off from anywhere on the map.
Since players are mad that CCP is "taking Dust away from them", they are reacting by griefing other players who continuously want to play this game and have fun.
So yes, that is immature.

True but I have a problem with the inconsistency on the mini map , sometimes you can see signatures and sometimes you can't and it has nothing to do with the skill set , it's just a problem with being constant , I wear scout suits and hear a tank right below me but it just won't show and I can't even see the signature while looking like something is blocking the signature .
There needs to be a concerted effort on bug fixes and glitches , also the well known exploits like driving next to someone in a tank and the turrets freeze .. these things as well as the wrong stats like on the Caldari heavies , should be addressed .
The honor of the vets who biomassed will never be forgotten and will always be upheld until the very end .

Thales has same range as every other sniper rifle in the game.
As stated before, standard tactical sniper rifle, pew pew pew. Dead.
Players aren't trying to grief, they are relieving themselves of their officer gear they have been holding on to for player market.

Your ability to baselessly assume how I play has yielded predictable results, your wrong. I spend most of my time as infantry pushing and defending objectives. And if I'm not on the ground, you will often find me in the air piloting an ADS. I've only used 1 rail tank this month and I suck at it; large turret turning speed is pretty damn important in tank versus tank combat.
PS: Tinfoil Hat, how's your head feeling? You never did tell me if you felt better after I turned down the power output of my mind control towers.

This is the third time that I have made this comment today also without knowledge of what you and anyone else was speaking about and I have made this comment in the past about those who do this practice in the infantry role as well pre 1.8 that's why I was glad and thankful for the damage mod changes for infantry and believe that the same should have been done for vehicles as well .

They actually do kill us (happened to me once with NULL missiles and once with MCC missiles) but I don't believe there is any splash damage to them so it has to be a direct hit.
Can't say I'm all that surprised.

I had a little fun with them in a boring match, my Gallente MLT suit took 3 NULL missiles up on the MCC, although the last one did 20k dmg, while the first 2 only 100-150 on my shield. And yes, you need to stand exactly right on the spot where they hit the MCC, they have no splash dmg.

If they didn't hide in the redline like a ****** I wouldn't go out of my way to find and kill them.
It's not the vets preparing to leave doing it though, it's the Scrubs the Vets would beat down on a regular basis without you knowing.
