Dust/Legion Mercenaries invaded a ship in space. Whatever carrier ship it was landed on the ship's hull and burn a hole through for the mercs to enter. O.o really? I hope they add that to Legion instead of hyping it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFTUazuGdTw
Edit: and Valkyrie were in battle as well
Pretty gnarly stuff.

It was quite pretty and it shows what CCP might hope to be but it is still just a trailer; about as promising and set in stone as a drunken cocktail napkin letter.

don't think anyone watches eve trailers and expects it to be a reality anymore, I don't think any eve trailers has ever come into reality.
that said all the trailers I've seen gives me great hope for their tv series. |

Legion did look pretty (remember Dust on Carbon?), but it was 5(?) people playing a very controlled match on a beyond miniscule map. Too much blind faith that the game will run so well and look so good from such a controlled viewing.

The map was a stright copy of a 5 point dust map. They only had 5 prople due to only haveing that many PCs to hand. Its been confirmed that was a fully working build of legion im 90% sure they simply need a year to shove in pve playermarket and the new progression system.

If they just made a movie trilogy, each movie being LOTR in length, all CGI, itd be a box office smash, everyone would love it except sourpuss anti-scifi weirdos. |

Not sure I'd take that confirmation to heart as he said during the presentation that it demo might BSOD the computers they were on. |

They do not invade a ship on the video, they invade the gate structure.
2. They (CCP) already spoke about the chance to fight inside TITAN class warships on Legion. |

If CCP can make videos like this, I think they can transfer all High quality 3D assets they got to the company developing the serie to get a similar quality in it without aditional work. |

That's only because it's such an early build that they had done absolutely no optimization on it.

So from watching the trailer(if one was to believe what was presented) I get the feeling that Eve online will begin to move away from smaller ships controlled by players, and that this will be moved over to Valkyrie. The ground/station war will be headed up by Legion.
Can they pull it off? Maybe, if they don't make any other major mistakes in the way of bad timing....
I mean, if you could be flying an interceptor in Valkyrie, and it would happen in real time to an eve online player, just imagine the new level of tactical warfare.
Also, imagine that you are guarding a station against boarders during a major space battle in null sec.
Again, this is a massive undertaking, and I don't see it happening in the next couple of years, maybe a decade, but who knows..... |

well I suppose it does depend on the budget that is being given to this series, and yes I agree that a movie would likely have been a better outlet for an eve story, but a lot can be done in sci-fi on a significantly lower budget then in the past and the advantage to a tv series is they can spend a lot of time telling the story.
they know how to craft a good story, and a good plot, that tends to be more important then anything. |

Season 1, if it's on somewhere like Syfy, will probably start off on a low budget but once it gains popularity, the budget for season 2 would rise.

Ah the joy of trailers. Im gonna demonstrate CCP trailers for eve: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDVEHE10nHc
and the actual gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn2jXRY-xwc
So CCP's game adverts are like the nice burger pics infront from McDonalds. It does not represent the product and is most of the time trash. I think they spend more money in making trailers then actually developing their games. |

Yup. Even movies fall under the same crap with trailers that present a fake plot or story.
