As I'm getting over the shock that was everything Dust-related (or indeed unrelated) at Fanfest 2014, I'm getting a clearer picture in my mind of what I want to see next.
Firstly, I am one of those people who bought a PS3 a year ago specifically to play Dust514 looking forwards to its promise of a meaningful link to EVE-Online, collaborative/competitive PVE content and general extension of the EVE sandbox. Today having watching the game be patched up and filled out some since I enjoy it for what it is (an EVE-themed pick up and play shooter) even as I hope CCP would soon deliver all the missing stuff.
Watching the Fanfest stream I saw that dream shattering as none of what I hoped to hear was presented. In its place I was offered a new dream, Project Legion. Project Legion sounds like everything I wish Dust514 was and if I could play it today I would be a happy man. My frustration then lies in the fact that Dust will not fulfil its promise and that I will have to wait longer to see it realised in a new form. And the god awful manner in which the announcemernt was made.
I do sincerely hope that Project Legion is green-lit by CCP management and goes ahead as described at Fanfest. I understand the reasons given for moving to a new platform (the PS3 will not be around forever) and the technical reasoning for going going to PC before eventually branching back out to next-gen console (ensuring compatibility with a greater range of hardware).
This is what I want to hear from CCP over the coming week:
1) I believe that CCP need to issue a formal apology for the failure to deliver the Dust514 vision as planned, and for the manner in which the announcent was made and confusion that ensued from it. An apology that looks like this one.
2) I know that the CPM is currently in a summit with CCP. The minutes need to be made public ASAP (not months later like we see for EVE's CSM!). In the meantime put out a joint statement (hopefully this is already in the works).
Those two points are both about restoring some measure of trust between CCP and the disenfranchised community.
3) We need some sort time scale, no matter how vague, for when we might see Project Legion released/enter beta. 6 months? a year? two years? Explain to us how the prototype has been put together, have you essentially ported Dust514 to PC at this point, or is it less complete than the demo appears?
4) Many players do not believe that Dust514 is going to see any further updates. Start talking about what is on the table!
If this community is going to survive more than six months developer confidence must be won back and the way to do that is to demonstrate that there is still a plan in place for this game

They definitely hurt themselves with the announcement, but since we're sort of starting over at this point, they have an opportunity to finally establish a culture of communication between the players and devs.
I know a lot of people will probably laugh at that thought right now considering everything that went on at fanfest (and ccp's approach to it over the past couple months). But seriously, learn from the mistakes of Dust, and fanfest. Stop leaving us in the dark about everything and they'll eventually be able to build a confidence in their players. |

I would like CCP to allow us to trade items.
We can already trade isk between accounts, it won't take that much to be able to trade items. Sure, it's not the player market we were promised and it could lead to a lot of price fluctuations. There will be no standard for pricing something. Deals will have to be made on the forum or through in-game messaging. I'm sure some players may find a way to abuse the system. But it is better than nothing.
Dust 514 no longer has to worry about having an eve economy because it will no longer have ties to Eve Online. So what we do, and how we sell our items won't affect anyone outside of Dust. Why worry about the economy of a dead game, especially since we now know that PC won't be fixed. Please, we waited so long for a player market and now it isn't coming. At least let us trade our items alongside isk and pretend we have a semblance of a player market.
Please CCP. T-T

Agreed, I too bought a PS3 for Dust beta, its still the only game I play on it, and do not regret the decision. I bought a PS4 in anticipation for the announcement of a port and the addition of the things that were missing, but alas no. Until we get our hands on Legion BF4 will keep me busy.
I agree with points 2 and 3, point 1 is irrelevant, forget about who did what and how, it will have no effect on the final outcome. Look to the future, what can we all to to work together to make the game we all want.

I think that a proper apology will go some way towards burying the hatchet and allowing for us all to move forwards, as was the case following Incarna for EVE.
I forgot to link Hilmar's open letter from back then so I've edited my OP with the link.
