What about: Legion sp = (Dust sp)/10
This way, Dust elite players could start playing Legion with about 5m sp, which is enough for testing the new game and having some real advantage over the newcomers who didn't play Dust, but still not being unbeatable monsters.
In my case, I would start with 1m sp, enough to be happy while recreating this character, so I can begin to specialize on a particular suit.
What would be your equation?

Your plans for the skill tree actually make it sound credible. I love that skill progression starts without faction alignments for the suits. However, you might want to take a look at doing a similar thing for items that are unlocked. Postponing faction alignments really helps with introducing new players. |

If they implement any sort of gear-meta level based match making, all the isk in New Eden will not buy you an advantage in the militia league. Those players with high SP and expensive assets will be segregated or play with lower tier equipment (to be fair to the casuals).

if they are rebuilding legion from scratch the issues with the current NPE doesn't have anything at all to do with the SP of the players involved.
here is a link to a discussion I had about replacing the current pub match system with a mission system that should of helped the NPE. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=156098&find=unread
I had suggested that with the intention of keeping work to a minimum but if you are rebuilding the whole thing anyway you could probably do 10 times better then that.
I saw glimpses of the system I suggested in what was talked about at the legion key notes, regarding choosing missions like salvage and guristas tournaments, that is great and if used right the NPE is nothing to consider at all.
players will be facing challenges that they want to face, and that's key, and with PVE then the NPE is fine no matter how much sp anyone has.

I have 34 million SP. I stopped playing for about 5 months but kept my Passive SP boosters going. Each one of those 30 day passives cost about 6 dollars. Having them for on for the 15 months I have played, they have earned me 5.4 million SP for my 90 dollars. I am okay with that. Earning 540,000 SP, a shade higher than what a starting account gets, not okay with. |

it is possibly going to be much closer to EVE, dust had the skill system done really badly, too easy to get into anything and too fast, but that is what dust (on ps3) overall is in the end. Any game that is developed on console become easily accesible, fast for quick fun, always limitations. |

CCP Logibro/Saberwing/Rouge: If you cannot manage to transfer the SP directly, please at least give us a redeemable code to allow us to pick N specialized roles due to being "beta testers" of this game. Where N is arbitrary and might depend on SP in Dust 514, your character-¦s creation date or equivalent.
It is the decent thing to do, if there is no direct connection between Dust 514 and EVE: Legion-¦s SP systems.
Edit: BTW, will EVE: Legion have fully passive SP like EVE: Online? This is a feature that would be pretty epic.

Why not just figure out how fast one earns "progression points" in Legion (once the project is far enough into development) and just simply convert Dust SP into whatever Legion uses at the ratio determined by the rate of acquiration?
Say that you earn these points in Legion five times slower than in Dust (numerically speaking). Then everyone's SP from Dust is multiplied by a factor of one-fifth and transferred into Legion.
Ideally this should save the time investment people have put into Dust.

I like that, as it would also allow vets to have the new player experience with the new game, just for a shorter time. Should be much shorter though IMO, not because of power level but because a vet will more quickly become bored of playing with limited gear. |

Exactly. If Dust 514 can't keep players because the pubs are too challenging, you can create gear and SP restrictions on matches. Gear restrictions are obvious->low stakes, low payouts, on MLT & STD level matches. You can call it fair, and most will believe it, and they'll at least try again after being killed a few times.
I don't personally think restrictions on gear and SP alone will solve the main problems associated with the NPE and their encounters with the veterans...but it would definitely resolve the excuses and other complaints offered up to explain why they're not having enough fun, like when they realize they're still getting stomped by groups of Nyain Chan, they will ask for some sort of protection from squads. With some kind of squadless team deathmatch, those same guys who just want the best gun right off can jump into the shooting action where they can show off their 'skills' without all those tedious force multiplying squad tactics getting in the way of their funtime. Who am I to tell them what a squad-based shooter is supposed to be, as long as they stick around and buy boosters?
This is why the NPE needs some easy funtimes, like shooting waves of drones in a squad-based PvE scenario. They learn the different roles, and can see what a rep-tool or eWar scout can add to a squad.

I said it before and I'll say it again. If CCP does a SP conversion ratio that's not 1:1, such as 1/10 or 1/4, I expect at least a partial Aurum refund on all of the boosters I bought, for that leftover SP I would not be getting. Once again, I will have paid for something I'm not able to use.

I guess I am still just ill at the entire situation but these dev posts are pretty close to being copy and paste of every response from when DUST was being developed two years ago. Nothing new here, only regurgitated answers from two years ago about they are working on it, it is critical, we are listening, we care, we want to make the best experience possible and other things like that. I will believe it when I see it, I gave my trust already and look what happened.

Hell no. I want 100% of my progress to be transferable to Legion. I will not accept anything less. I have 10 mil SP and growing.
For some reason there is this "need" to hurt high SP players because they are perceived as "monsters". The problem is not how far these players have progressed, but rather the crappy match making system we have now. There is no perfect match making algorithm.
If players could choose who they were going to fight, just as they could in EVE, then this wouldn't be a problem. New players would learn quickly to either stay away from fortified corps, side with one, or create their own, which only benefits their growth. Teamwork needs to be highly encouraged for new players. Currently as it stands you get whisked away to some random battle only to be crushed by well organized teams. |

perhaps to lower the incredible amount of SP people will have to transfert, we could remove passive skills point (exepts thoses gained with booster bonus) and to avoid the "i created a dust char and never played with it, only to have 30m sp at legion start"
and when i say 50k sp / week it's a number to be adjusted

you know how the saying goes:
Fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me. Your right, lets actually use EVE's SP system and remove the grind and all the P2Skill aspects of Dust. It's like paying for free levels on your character in any other MMO, except when there is no max level effectively it allows infinite faster levelling & advantage. So lets just have pure passive SP, no WP SP, no Weekly bonus SP for time in game. That's perfectly fair.
