So you like lying I see?
First build: No price for harddrive (+$100) No bluray drive (+$50) No blurray movie software (+$50) No OS (+$100) NO KB/M (+$20) Case Fans (+$10)
Hey right there is $330 you omitted from that build. OF course that PC is going to take 2-3 times more electricity as well.
Now let me guess your response: Pirate windows Pirate blurray software (yes you have to have this, I own a blurray on my PC, there is no built-in software for it) You should already have a KB/M blah blah blah
Also, that setup is not going to beat a Ps4 in anyway shape or form. Ps4 has nearly no overhead for an OS, games are actually "optimized" for one type of hardware(I know, PC guys don't understand optimization.) In 3-4 years that PS4 will still play all of the latest games, just like the PS3 plays a ton of games that a 7800 GTX will not anymore.

You can get a nice hardrive for $60. Add there, like I said, the kbm cost. Windows too. It will add about $200 in the end, true. But for the added utility of a PC over a PS, I dont mind, especially since many parts can last thru several builds. Why in the freaking world would you want a bluray drive, or worse, a bluray app on a gaming pc escapes me. The case comes packed already with fans. You cant compare a PS3 with a gpu that was available at the time, because when PS3 came out it was a freaking good machine, not a mid-level pc like the PS4. I believe also at the time the price was a lot stepier than the new version in todays values. Yeah, the PS4 is hyper optimized, using just about 50% of its ram for the OS http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/07/report-os-overhead-takes-up-3-5gb-of-ps4s-8gb-of-ram/The reason the consoles still run new games is that the games are held back (ops, "optimized") because of the old hardware that dosent evolve, while on PC they see releases with advanced graphics and more options to make things look pretier - if you want them too, because the quality of the game is in your hands.
#1 The link you posted is PCnazi fluff, not backed up by a single developer or sony.
#2 No you need to add the bluray, thats another $100 (the drive is $50 and the move playing software and there is no freeware for that, I have checked)
so that is $100 for windows $100 for blurray functionality $65 as per newegg for a HDD $20 for a crappy mouse/KB which puts another $285 above the cost of what you originally quoted for a gaming PC that will not be as proficient at games, will cost at least an extra $30 per year in electricity (hey the same price you can get PSPlus for all of the time), and no perpetual free triple A games (because of the free Plus due to electrical savings).
In the end though, Like I have said, most gaming develoment money will always head towards consoles because that is where the money is at. Sure, if you spend 2-3 times as much as you would on a Ps4 you can get a little prettier graphics, but you will be playing the same game, designed with the same limitations as the console has.
Face it, gaming is centered around consoles, not PC. Consoles are cheaper, you can own a console without an internet connect (like half of the planet BTW), the community is WAY nicer/funner, and you will always have the majority of development money thrown at your platform rather than the PC dungeon N4zis.

The funny thing is that they think the PS4 wont get as dated as the cheap same performance PC.
So I don't really see a 7800 GTX supporting most recent releases... hey look at that, the consoles do. Have fun spending the same price as a console every 2-3 years on a graphics card, and paying the electricity company more than what PSPlus costs (without the 24+ free games). Oh right and that crap game you bought brand new from steam? You are stuck with it... I can get $30 back for it by trading it in/selling it because I can actually own my software.

Are you saying I can't have my pc without internet for gaming? Also you ad hominem arguments against pc players really should get you banned imho.
Who sells computer games anymore? Even if you find some magical vendor that does actually sell PC releases, they are going to fleece you, and you still will not be able to trade them in after purchase, oh and quite a few PC games require at least a primary authentication through the internet.
And so we come to the truth of it, you are upset because your B.S. PCmasterrace is basically just smoke and mirrors, and now that someone is succesfully showing that
A) you will lie in order to try to make PC gaming better
and
B) consoles are way cheaper, of higher priority, and better for the majority of the planet (whether that be through less power use or because most of the planet doesn't have internet)

ZDub 303 wrote:Mary Lilac wrote:B) consoles are way cheaper, of higher priority, and better for the majority of the planet (whether that be through less power use or because most of the planet doesn't have internet) Its true, consoles are cheaper... but PCs are better. You get what you pay for. There is a reason for both consoles and PCs to exist. Just like there is a reason for Camry's and BMWs to exist.
Per price a PC can not match a console, not even close. The console caters to everyone, has way better price per performance, has a much higher developer focus, and is just more fun.
See this is exactly the point I was trying to make here. For PC gamers it has nothing to do with "gaming" as a hobby, it is all about deriving self-worth from having a ridiculous PC because that is the only place they can.
I hate top break ti to you but no one cares who has the most bad-ass pocket protector.

If you do the same bargain hunting on a console as a PC, I guarantee you that you can get games for cheaper on a console. From being able to trade in your brand new $60 game for $30 when you are done with it (i.e. $30 brand new AAA games) to going and picking up older games for pennies on the dollar (you can go get killzone 3 for $5).
Why would you want to trade in a game? Lets say you pre-order Duke Nukem, and got the game on each platform. You paid $10 more on console. 1 week later you never want to look at the game again, you go sell it for $30 and now you are only out $30.... on the PC you are still out $50, you will always be out $50, you are boned... that is just 1 of 100 examples btw.
Your story on the PC market revenue is not data, it is guestimation by an analyst. Steam has up to (also an estimate) 75% of PC title sales, steam does not release sales data to anyone, this means your 22 billion (for 2012) figure is pie in the sky fantasy. Steam made almost 1 billion dollars last year, roughly 20% of what one developer (activiision) made. The $25 billion figure comes from the same analyst by the way. Every story you link comes from one analysts, yeah your data is that bad. DFC is a fully unreliable source
The console market made $38 billion last year, this is cold hard fact backed by numerous sources. Your PC number comes from one analyst group that can't even come up with a decent guess.
PC sales have been declining by 10% a year for the last 3-4 years (due to tablets). Every single bit of sales data says that PCs will by and large be replaced by tablets which means the PC market is going to corrode, and even fewer developers will put titles on PC.
Every single piece of data you put out is just full of absolute crap. Listen I am getting so tired of proving you are just a PC elitist liar who can't do math and can't research sources.

and
B) consoles are way cheaper, of higher priority, and better for the majority of the planet (whether that be through less power use or because most of the planet doesn't have internet)
or
C) PC hardware =/= console hardware. Ps3 ended up putting out games with graphics and gameplay that now computer with 256 MB of system ram and a 256 MB 7800 GTX, or 8800GTX, or possibly even a 9800GTX would be able to match. Have fun with your overpriced epeen machine. Good Lord! Where do I even begin?! Who sells computer games anymore: You might have heard about this company called Valve. They have something called Steam. They even have sales and stuff! No? How about EA/Origin? Good Old Games? A) No need to lie. A good gaming PC is demonstrably better than a console. The only thing consoles have going for them is convenience. An equivalent gaming PC might cost $600 today, but it will cost $450 next year, and $300 the year after. B) See A. Plus - what the Hell does internet connections have to do with anything. You either have one or not. Consoles don't magically connect through the ether. C) PC hardware is still following Moore's Law. If consoles followed the same progression the PS3 should cost about $37.50, not $200. Edit: No, you don't need a bluray player for your PC. That's what your PS3 is for.
Way to reading comprehend there idiot.
The context in which I said who even sells PC games anymore was Brick & mortar stores, you know places where people go (Oh no.. people!!!)
Look at sales data for XBOX, only about half of their userbase even uses XBOX live, this means everyone else is not connecting to the internet. MOST OF THE WORLD DOES NOT HAVE INTERNET.
A) yes you need to lie, bottom line pricing for a gaming PC will always be $400 or above, it just so happens to get one equivalent (in specs, not performance remember) will cost you around $700 right now. In a year that PC wil be cheaper, but so might the PS4, and on top of that PS4 BRAND NEW is cheaper than the cheapest you would build a gaming PC for. It is just a no-braner that consoles are just so much cheaper.
B) Outside of the internet you can find console games everywhere in the world, you really have to search for PC game vendors, and on top of that you only find the very most popular titles.
C) PC hardware does not all follow Moore's law. Otherwise you could get 300 GB hard drives for $5. Everything has a bottom line price. Also, you will not be able to build a gaming PC w/ blurray capabilities for $200 period.. windows will be $100 of that to begin with, $100 for the blurray drive plus the software... you have no money left for a PC.
Jesus, a olot of you PC gamers actually took the troll seriously didn't you.
PCmasterrace was a troll, it was people making fun of their own community due to the way neckbeards would act. You guys just took it and ran with it eh?
