CCP took Dust 514 from you too. Just because you're getting the replacement doesn't mean you didn't get screwed over.
Devs may have said that they want to honour the progress we've made in Dust in some form, but this move to Legion has let them weasel out of so many commitments to us.
They no longer have to honour our LAV BPOs. Or Templars, Dren, Dragonflies, etc. They can completely undo the district ownership so many people have earned in the last year. They do not have to respect our isk, regardless of a Legion transfer. Ditto for SP. For all we know a recognition of Dust mercs in Legion could be as little as a novelty cosmetic item. "Applicable skills" is as meaningless as you could get.
They've done all this, and yet I still see PC gamers here lapping up the tears of the console gamers, and lodging their noses firmly up the rears of CCP with Legion signatures.
Do you not realise you were screwed? Do you not mind being screwed? Or are you too easily distracted by CCP dangling some shiny shiny in front of you to care?

Not all of us play video games so we can jerk off to the number next to "ISK" or "KDR". Some of us just like to have fun playing a video game and spending time with others who like to do so as well. I'm excited for Legion on PC and could care less if my stats or ISK or whatever are transferred over. Yeah, it'd be nice to keep my investments, and CCP has clearly stated they intend to carry over our progress, so I see no reason to be up in arms about anything. Literally the only concern I had was cleared up in less than a day, so I see no reason how we're getting screwed. In fact, we're getting everything we've been hoping for.
Do you not think the "it's only a game" arguments fall a little short of the mark when you've posted them to an internet video games forum?
Besides, you're not getting everything you've hoped for. You're getting more empty promises. Telling us they intend to carry our progress is no more valuable a statement to me than telling us that Dust has a 10 year roadmap. The reality is that they'll give us as little as they can possibly get away with giving us. And when they do, the suckers like you will waddle up to them, wide-eyed, and ask to be shafted some more.

The biggest failure of this unveiling, bar none, was that it made people actually believe that dust will be going somewhere within the next 12-18 months. I feel confident enough to say it won't unless the desastrous PR impact of this mess is enough to scare so many players away that keeping the servers up cannot be justified. Whether or not that's the case we'll see during the following months. Remember that,on paper, project Legion is not even an actual thing yet. Edit: Still liking because all those a serious issues that need to be resolved to restore a modicum of consumer trust.
Dust without a future isn't Dust. We played through this sub-par lobby shooter because we wanted to be here to see it turn into something more.

Nstomper wrote:thought the EVE universe was HARD, wouldn't it make it more HARD if the previous players stuff transfers over to a game that is similar to the previous product (thats if it evens becomes a game)?
No more than it already is. I agree that it presents an issue, but rather than trying to suck the poison out of the limb, CCP have just decided to amputate instead.

You don't really think any of that was the reason for Legion, do you? Let's be honest, DUST 514 on console simply was a failure. When you do what no other company in the world even attempts, you are bound to trip up a few times. EVE also was a pipedream, but one that miraculously succeeded. That doesn't mean all of CCP's projects are going to succeed... I still respect them for at least giving it a shot. I know it's more popular to diss a failure (which unsurprisingly leads to a lot of risk-averse gutless endeavours), but that's not for me. So all I see is: DUST 514 failed. It's normal to be upset about this, and I completely understand how people feel who had their hopes up for the game, or who wished that CCP had communicated with them more openly. But at the same time I am glad that CCP was able to learn valuable lessons from this failure and that they have a decent shot at getting it right the next time. I am also glad that CCP is willing to make radical changes if they can see that it's necessary. I would be far more worried if they'd avoid the painful changes only to appease their current playerbase.
I don't think they made Legion to escape BPO LAVs and Planetary Conquest Isk, no.
I believe they realised they f*cked a lot of stuff up. The above included. And I believe that rather than doing the honourable thing, they chose to cut and run to Legion.

The honourable thing would be to fix it.
Not to burn it down with us inside, just so they can start again.
