What Legion SHOULD have been was an announcement for a mid-term (2 year) plan to shift SOME of the resources away from DUST. NOT the majority like they have done, but still a significant portion. We'd get some development, INCLUDING SOME NEW CONTENT, and that content would include key elements that have been LONG overdue - player marketplace, PvE, proper corp controls, etc. There would also be the also-overdue patches, hotfixes and cleaning up of Planetary Conquest.
While DUST continues, but at a slower rate, development for the next major iteration would be happening. This would be the move to PS4 and PC with the new build (NOT a new game, though it might be a significant departure from how DUST works at present): Legion.
When Uprising came out, it was practically a new game. When they did the 1.7 vehicle revamp, that changed things pretty significantly as well. DUST players are no strangers to the game being ripped out from under us and rebuilt in a new image. THAT'S WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO.
But you didn't rebuild DUST. You scrapped it to build something else that looks and acts like DUST, but you're directly admitting it isn't DUST in spite of that.
You're killing the game we paid you to keep alive, and you're spending our money on something else instead of what you assured us you were doing. You actively pushed for us to help you fund DUST, then threw it out the window in favour of the new toy. And to make things worse, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THE NEW PROJECT YOU'RE ABANDONING US FOR WILL WORK. |

I know CCP has proven its incompetence several times over, but I doubt that they would announce something at FanFest if they didn't have the "green light" to begin development.
That's like signing up for a field trip (or whatever kids call them these days) and handing in the money & slip to your teacher, and then saying "I just need the green light" when your teacher asks for your parent's signature. CCP has shown a ton of stuff at fanjets before that never became of anything. Flying in atmosphere, ring mining, stuff like that. A 20 minute long keynote with a new "project" however... Legion announcement from 2012! WOAH! mind blowning! They even mentioned Rouge! |
