CCP has confirmed that only applicable skills will be transferred. The problem with this is that if you have 40 million skillpoints you might only end up with only 20 million into **applicable skills** and while everyone agrees that something is better than nothing, we cannot ignore that, Project Legion is the game we were supposed to be playing all along. Dust, it seems, has it's days numbered. We as a community have to work for our part. We have to campaign for the full transfer of our skillpoints to Project Legion. If you agree the write a comment. Don't like this page. I've said it a million times, likes don't get exposure for the thread but comments bring the thread back up into viewable slots.
We can do this, all we have to do is fight for it.
CCP Rouge wrote:Hi everyone,
Thank you for all of your feedback so far. I'd like to answer a few of your questions about DUST 514 and Project Legion directly given the feedback you gave me. I've picked these four points as they are coming up the most on the forums as well as in the live roundtable discussions here at Fanfest.
1) What happens to my character, skills and stuff?
If Project Legion becomes something more than a prototype, we will not leave our DUST 514 players behind. You would be able to bring your character name, applicable skills/inventory, and other elements of progression with you. We are still working on the details and we will have more to announce soon.
Feedback
Apart from that, There is a key word in the above statement that I do not think the community will be happy with. Applicable should not only be skillpoints attributed to the transferred character. The applicable skills should be put directly into the skill tree and any other skillpoints left over should be put into the the SP POOL for the player to distribute as he sees fit A.K.A. "redistributable"
Reasoning behind the feedback
By only passing the applicable skillpoints there is a possibility that a character that has 40 million skillpoints only be allotted 20 to the applicable skills while a character with 20 million skillpoints might have the whole 20 million transfered to the new character. This scenario would not only be unfair but arbitrary. It can also be exploitable by players with insight, read CPM and their friends, that can train in advanced for this change with huge benefits.
EXAMPLE FROM EvE ONLINE
Removal of learning skills in EvE online
Quote: ALL LEARNING SKILLS WILL DISAPPEAR
We're not kidding. In your head, in your hangar or in your anything else, they're gone. Vamoosh. Deleted. Sent to the big recycle bin in the sky. Etc etc.
All skillpoints invested in learning skills will be reimbursed, including all the fiddly corner cases. If you have 2,012,692 SP in learning, you will find yourself down those skills, but with 2,012,692 skillpoints to redistribute.
The idea seams to be the standard answer to our question. We understand what CCP is trying to do but we also feel that we as the community deserve to be rewarded for our time. We will probably be losing a lot more than our skillpoint, like BPO's aurum gear etc. Money spent on Dust will probably be lost but don't make our efforts or at least a portion of it be lost too.
CCP Logibro wrote:Poppa Smurfff wrote:CCP Rouge's answer is very vague about this question:

This to me sounds like it doesn't include all accumulated SP. But rather sounds like they will butcher the current skill system and take only the skills they want to Legion.
I don't want skills, I want my skill points! Which is what I worked hard for and spent money on.
Skill points is more likely that just bringing over skills that exist in both. However, exactly how they would translate from DUST 514 to Legion is yet to be seen. Main thing we're waiting on for that is for the new progression system to be completed: it's a bit hard to work out how we could move things from one system to the other when the new one isn't finished yet. The best way to look at it overall though is we want to carry over the investment you guys have made in DUST 514 into Legion. When you think about it in that context, even if things don't translate exactly you can see what we want to do.

I don't like the home computing and software industries. I haven't bought a pc since smartphones. Love andriod, had it with microsoft and apple.
HOWEVER
Dust 514 is my favorite fps of all time, and I'm not alone. Many of us are waiting to see how ccp handles this and are willing to go pc again JUST to play Legion. This includes half my corp and likely thousands of players.
It's up to you, ccp. If I log onto Legion at my brother's house and find I have my skillpoints, I'm all in. If not, bye bye.
The choice is yours. Don't listen to me, listen to my real world cash. Choose wisely. |

My only feedback to CCP regarding this Ghaz is that they need to do the following:
1. Calculate an average conversion ratio/factor between Dust 514 and Project Legion SP. 2. Multiply your current SP with conversion factor. 3. Transfer converted SP into your Project Legion character's SP pool to be allocated.
(1) Will certainly be hard to do.

"Applicable" is less of a concern than proportionate.
The applicable skills may end up being worth diddly squat by comparison with what other skills may be introduced.

Tbh, it's probably just easier for them to just give us a "respec" of sorts. Take our lifetime SP, (here's the tricky part) convert it into more or less equivalent Legion SP, and put all it in the unallocated pool.
Otherwise that's a lot of unnecessary work on their part to figure out what goes where and how much for each player.
Quitting cold turkey was impossible. The forum patch is helping me kick the habit!

I feel like the applicable is meant to reference inventory than skills.
This is just another example of CCP being as broad as possible so that they can stumble into whatever happens and say that is what we meant.

All I know is if CCP screws me on my character transfer my three paid eve accounts and my dust/legion account will be cancelled and I will sadly walk away from New Eden.

Why wouldn't they just transfer the amount of skill points and allow us to -re-invest them into the applicable skills?

The "how are our Skill Points going to work with 'everything applicable'?" question is when Logibro stepped in:
CCP Logibro wrote:This one I can tackle right now. SP, not skills would transfer (doing it by skills would be silly).
CCP still is not quite sure on numbers though and they'll "sit down and work out when (they) nail down the progression system, but (they're) not there yet."

Why can't they do what they did when uprising dropped. Make all of our skill points unallocated. Why would you bother to transfer our skills if you're making a new skill tree? Just transfer our skill points.

There seems to be no reason not to give us an equivalent amount of Legion SP. If they worry about proto players having too great an advantage, then they obviously haven't fixed the issue of NPE, and Legion will be doomed to the same un-enjoyable disparity as DUST.

I agree, we earned the sp, we should keep it ALL in some way, any skill that is not "applicable" should have the sp invested into it liquidated, and returned to the owner as unallocated sp, for spending.

they can't, really.
imagine the work they'd have to put in before launch to be able to give you 3 years worth of skills on day one.
i kind of think legion is make-believe, and they just didn't want to cancel world of darkness and their fps franchise in the same quarter.
what kind of information have they released since fanfest? nothing new.

Would certainly simplify the transition. Plus, its not like they can't/won't change up the skill system at a later date anyway.
