Let me first start by saying that getting to this point is quite sad. I love Dust 514. For me, it was and is a very mature experience unlike anything I've experienced in console gaming. I have mainly been a console gamer, so I've played my fair share of FPS titles. But none has offered what Dust 514 has offered. From the social to the battles, I can tell you multiple battle stories that I have won and loss where it has come down to the wire. A chess match of out-thinking the opponent.
The truth of the matter at hand is that the community also had a hand in bringing us to this predicament. The game was never good enough. We nerfed any and every weapon that killed us too much. We complained about the updates. We called for the firing of Dust developers. We called this game a POS.
While many will not agree with me, this is what I've seen since I started in Dust and visited forums since March of last year. We stifled the ideas and growth of Dust with our concerns. We didn't nurture this game or cultivate ideas. They became lost and obscure in the heavy amount of QQ threads.
One of the requirements of the cool kids club was to not praise Dust. If you praised it and talked well about Dust, you were a fanboy. Told that this game will be nothing more than just a lobby shooter. On the other hand, if your words were negative and hostile towards the experience, your likes would be generated and multiply. This is the truth that the majority doesn't talk about or mention. Yes you can say what you want about CCP but lets not leave the community out of the blame as if they did things the right way.
I have made enemies here and friends. Fought alongside the great and against them. My memories of Dust will always be fond. Because of Dust and its mature style of gaming, I believe in the future of Legion and what it can offer. I just hope that CCP learns that maybe, just maybe, they follow their ideas and don't let the community stifle their creativity because I feel that's what happened with Dust 514 and its console gaming community.
I hope that we next time support a game and allow it to find its own identity instead of trying to create one for it. That's what makes anything unique, when it finds its own persona and manifest into something greater than we could have ever imagined.
I will be here until Dust 514 beats it last heartbeat. To all that I've known, squaded with and fought with or against, thank you for the experience. It's been one helluva ride. And if you guys come to Legion, I will see you there.
To my fellow corpmates, its been an honor serving with you all.
