I calmed down after the initial "Dust is being ported to PC" feeling of abandonment, I realized it was the right move.
We have to face it, it had to be Done. Dust 514 is a failure on PS3, and the PS3 is not only outdated, but also becoming irrelevant with the coming of nextgen consoles. Rebuilding Dust as EVE Legion on a more powerful platform where it can truly achieve its goals that we have all wanted.
EVE Valkyrie started off as a prototype on PC, but it will release on PS4 as well. Likewise it is very possible that this is the goal for EVE Legion as well; during the question segment of the progression presentation at Fanfest, CCP mentioned the possibility of Legion coming to nextgen consoles. It should be relatively easy to port legion from PC to PS4 given how PC-like the PS4 is, so I think there is a very good chance that 1 or 2 Fanfests from now we may see a Legion on PS4 announcement (I know its just speculation).
What CCP did wrong:
The Legion prototype should have been built on PS4, and not PC. If not that there should have been a statement indicating commitment and intentions to bring Legion to PS4. The Dust community consists of console gamers, and we deserve to know that the game we invested so much time, effort, and money into would have a future on cosoles; I shouldn't have to completely switch my style of gaming just see the future of Dust.
There should have been a commitment or guarantee to making sure we will be able to transfer our Dust characters and our skill points to Legion.
If these 2 things happened, there would not be this panic on the forums.
Another disappointment that has been overshadowed by the EVE Legion thing is lack of item content shown. It would have softened the blow of the EVE Legion thing if we could say "well, at least we're getting those sweet new heavy weapon in Dust", or something. Last Fanfest brought us so many new toys, this one fails in this regard.

I want to say yes... but I can't remember where I heard it, or if I heard it at all. Legion is still an early prototype, so it might not even be decided yet.

Legion should be at the CCP Presents session with an "upgrade" path from Dust (at least hinted at). No upgrade path, means Dust is meaningless and isn't worth any new dime.
Yeah, I think the CCP presents would have been a better time to show it. It would have been nice to see them talking about content and features to improve the current Dust before showing Legion.

I haven't decided if I'm quitting Dust yet, I guess it depends on if new content is still planned for Dust: racial vehicles, racial heavy weapon, weapons in general, maps, racial map outposts (we have zero Minmatar or Amarr outposts)

They didn't have ANY answers for people's concerns, just "we will of course keep working on DUST 514" but as it has already been cast as a product that can't fulfil the design it's not very comforting. The rest of the keynote should have talked about what they're doing for DUST and the subsequent presentations should have been labeled "Legion: Progression" instead of further rubbing salt in the wounds.
Not talking about DUST 514 was a ******* **** move and many of the community who beta tested your PC lovechild feel like they were just spat in the face, myself included.
I don't have ANY desire to invest my time or money into this game because I have no idea how that will be translated into Legion. I was looking forward to maxing out all Minmatar stuff now I think I'll just play FFXIV instead cause I know I won't lose that.
Seriously CCP, I was among the staunchest of supporters and optimists but FF was a ******* disaster and you should know that your community feels shat on. I've lost a lot of respect for you as a company and don't know to what extent I'll continue engaging with and caring about your products.
Edit: btw, I agree that this was absolutely the best step for the game to be able to realise it's potential and Atli mar has said that they would love to move it to next (current) gen consoles but that they have to start on PC (given the PC nature of console architecture this isn't far fetched either) and they have also said that they will do whatever they can to bring our 'footprints' with us...but the execution at FF is what I found to be disasterous. I was litterally GOBSMACKED at the end of the keynote when it cut to ads then EVE TV. We should have had DUST 514 info CCP, that was low.
I agree, the lack of any plans for Dust shown is pretty messed up. They say they still have development stuff planned for Dust, but its hard to take them seriously when they showed none of it; Fanfest is when they're supposed to show such plans. I was really hoping for Minmatar LAVs to drive around in, or at least an an Amarr mid-range heavy weapon.
