A stain that might be difficult to erase.
You mean like Hillmar(?) saying "Don't listen to what they{the players} say, just watch what they do."? You'll notice that most people involved still remember that event. Yourself included.
I don't see this being too much different. |

They were, in fact, ignored when they suggested CCP announce this far sooner. though its worth noting they remained quiet when they could have leaked it anonymously. nda or not their responsibility is to the players Whatever, man. Breaching NDAs tends to **** you over for any future employment opportunities that require discretion. It is, after all, a form of contract. If you breach contract in one case, what's to stop you doing so in others? Breaching NDAs for solid and defensible reasons tends to encourage employers with anything resembling a sense of ethics.
If you breach a contract for extremely valid reasons, then they'll know you're willing to break the rules when it's actually a good idea to do so. Sometimes, jumping over the fence right next to that "do not cross" sign is the best way to reach the little kid who climbed into the lion's enclosure. And sometimes, spoiling the "surprise" someone wanted to give their fans is worth it so they don't end up in a state like CCP just did.
Their job was always meant to involve a responsibility to THE PLAYERS, and they failed.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
I've been under NDA before, and I know how they work. If I was part of CPM, and I knew this was coming, as soon as I knew about both Legion AND the sales in DUST, I would have said "Tell them NOW or I will" and screw the NDA.
They intentionally gouged players, KNOWING many of those players WON'T be following the game to the new platform, by continuing to tell us the game is going to keep running, and by NOT telling us their plans when we had been given solid reason to expect something VERY different from what they're offering. |

"EVE Online Subscription Cancelled You have cancelled your EVE Online subscription. Your account will be suspended at the end of the current subscription period, expiring on 14 May 2014. Your characters will be stored safely and be ready for you to enjoy again should you decide to return. You'll notice the linked post there has 350 likes.
THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY LIKES.
What does a dev get when trying to "clarify" things and failing miserably? 25.
I know some of that is fueled by rage, but plenty is fueled quite simply by CCP failing us miserably. There are also many posts in this thread with 50+ likes pointing out how badly CCP have screwed things up here, with at least one I've noticed with over 150 likes. |

Sony are refunding recent Aurum purchases for DUST if you contact them. They're doing damage control on this mess better than CCP right now. The money you spent on Omega Boosters CAN be refunded. |
