However, they did say that there is something active for PS4 development in regards of Dust 514. So, even though I didn't get a refund (and I talked at length with the rep), I'm alright with not getting a refund.
Call back and speak to a different rep.
If still no luck ask for a supervisor, and if all else fails site all the success others are having here, at least a few dozen people have confirmed they are being refunded.
I have a hard time believing they'll tell some people no while the majority are told yes.
I have to disagree... the rep I spoke to said he was forwarding the refund requests to the refund "team" for investigation which would take 5-7 business days. He gave me several refund ticket numbers as well in case I needed to follow up. I would assume some other people here who have reported in that "I am getting a refund" were probably not listening too well, and were told similar. They aren't going to click a button and put money back in your wallet without first investigating...
So until people confirm they actually got the money placed back in the wallet.. it is all heresay for now. Glad that sony reps answered the calls, and some are at least willing to investigate rather than read from a script.
This may be true in some cases, and no of course they won't just hit a button and call it square in any case.
But I was not told my case was "forwarded to a refund team" at any point. I was told, by the supervisor I spoke to that the refund would be processed and the funds available for use again within 3-5 days.
There was no "maybe yes, maybe no" for me, personally. There was a "Yes, we can do that. Here is your ticket number, expect your refund in three to five days."
Now come day six, if I don't have my refund I will have issues with SONY that will need to be addressed. But for now, SONY are heroes in my book, cleaning up CCPs mess.
I'd like to say further though, that SONY has very little reason to
NOT process a transaction refund like this. SONY loses nothing from this type of charge-back. In fact SONY stands to
GAIN from it.
SONY took a cut from the transaction the first time I spent the wallet funds on CCP's aurum.
The funds are placed back in my PSN wallet, I will spend them again on some other game's items or DLC, SONY will take a cut from that new transaction as well.
SONY is out of pocket
NOTHING, and stands to actually gain.
Any blowback caused by these refunds land squarely at CCP's feet when they ask SONY
"What are these charges you're handing us this month?" and SONY replies
"The customers weren't satisfied with what you sold them, we gave them their money back, and you're now going to reimburse us what we had to front them."
