First off I want to ask you to keep your justifiable rage and flaming out of this topic. This isn't a flame thread, I want a change of tone.
Dust514 was one of the funnest games I've ever played. I've been playing video games for easily fifteen years and this is the most fun I've ever had from a game. And it wasn't the graphics that made it that way, it wasn't the game types, and it sure as hell wasn't the balance.
It was you.
Because of and in spite of the flamewars, the butthurt, the QQ, the e-peen stroking, the bad roleplaying, the backstabbing, the protostomping, the tank spam, the player base of this game never ceased to impress me with their ingenuity, their persistence, and their dedication.
I've seen things people wouldn't believe. In no other game did the community come together and play such an integral role in shaping the design and direction of what they played. We shared tacos together, dropped panties together, and created erotica that made fifty shades of grey look like children's literature. We stomped and we've been stomped and those of us that remain knew that there was something more at the heart of this game than code.
I graduated from college today and as I was sitting listening to the commencement and really thinking about the end of this game, one of the speakers said that what you it wasn't the things you did in college that you remember, but the people you were with. And thats as true for this game as it is for anything. It was all of you, whether you owned a district or weren't even in a corp if you were in a corp with me or if I flamed you, you were part my experience in this game, and I earnestly thank you for it.
If Legion comes to PS4, I hope we all carry over and show the entitled PC assholes what console pubbies can do on the ground. If not, as seems increasingly likely, I hope we stick together in other games. I was about to subscribe to Eve but I'm not going to now, I just preordered Destiny instead. I'm looking forward to Planetside 2 was well and I hope to seem many of you there. I realize it won't be the same, but it could be something.
And that's it, I have nothing else to say but that I love you guys. FA in particular, shout outs to Arrogance and Red Star too. Hit me up in game and add my PSN account. Hopefully we can make the best of a bad situation by remembering that it was always us.
