I understand that EVE Online is a PC game and that's where Dust should of been to begin with, but it's too late. You made Dust on PS3. You received a fan base that showed their devotion with time and money. Now you are abandoning them. Yes, abandoning them. You are telling them if that want to continue to play the original vision, they have to pay $1000+ for a gaming PC, one that they would likely only get because of Dust. That is not reasonable, that is abandonment.
CCP, if you have any tact left, you would appreciate what this community has done for you and start work on Legion for PS4 right now. Yeah it may be harder on the team, you may need to hire more people, it may make development a little slower. But what's the rush? A PS4 is only $400 and is likely a platform many Dusters would get anyways because of beloved franchises. You start work on PS4, you are giving the player base a reasonable point of entry into the future of Dust's vision. You are not abandoning them.
The longer you wait, the more you of the community you lose and have failed. CCP, do what is right. Don't start work on a PS4 version later, start work on a PS4 version now - if out of nothing than respect for your fans who dedicated their time and money to you. CCP, you are suppose to be the prime example of gaming as a service. Now it's your turn to make the hard choice but the right choice. Provide a service to your fans. Don't abandon them. Start work on PS4 Legion now.

I applaud your post Aero. You summed up exactly what many others and myself think. I wouldn't even care so much if they were going to continue working on Dust and move it over to the PS4 after a time, but now there's no reason or way for me to basically play it at all anymore. I guarantee this version will be gone in a year and half or less.
Now a very angry and Bitter Vet. CCP, you have further solidified my views that corporations are corrupt POS's.

If you read the dev blog about legion. rouge says they need to develop for the PC first. either way who cares? Sticking with a company after they do this to their clients is foolish. My only regret is i wont be here for the scrapping of legion.

Where I live, a PC with, say, a GTX 670, a Core I5 and 8GB of RAM would cost you 950$~.
A PS4? 500$~.

I did read the dev blog. That's why I said make the tough choice, but the right choice. It may slow development done a little, but what's the rush? Support the guys who kept this vision alive for you.

PS4 isn't enough at this point Aero, they're going to not give us any of the **** they promised for Dust 514, call it a game "In flight" after bullshitting us with 10 year road maps and laser focus on PS3. **** them! They used us as Beta testers while calling this game released and all our progression is not going to mean anything in Legion.

I also want this to be available on the PS4 on the same release dates as the PC!

Upon further reflection I have come to the conclusion that is not ccp itself that betrayed us. Given the past of ccp in sticking with the game they made.
No ccp Rouge is the culprit here. And possibly whomever gave him control. But what can you expect from a guy that was in activision. They **** on their customers every chance they get.

Ironically if the Dust Keynote (absent Dust) had been that this is Eve Legion on the PS4 and we were porting your toons across you would have heard a lot of celebrations on the forums instead of what they got.

Whenever Legion comes out officially you can change out the older stuff for the newer stuff for the same price. It's lower than 600 without the disc drive. PC's are cheap. Stop acting like it's insanely expensive.

I hate playing on Pc (Exept for some games like Age of Empire or League of Legend).
PC : Lot of hacks, which are easier on a game like this (Even more since he's F2P), half of the fan base LOST.
Ps4 would be much easier for everyone.
The F2P on PS4 don't need to pay the PS+ to play online. |

Really because mine cost a grand a year or two ago and I would probably have to upgrade it to play legion. Oh and I salvaged parts from my old computer to build it. |

We're the idiots of stuck with them for two years, supported their developmental processes with our money and copious quantities of it in some cases, who suggested, discussed, looked for bugs, and gave feed back.

They are of course going ahead with this development anyway so there is not much that can be done, and I doubt they will bother to put the resources into porting to the PS4.......

The worst bit of this whole thing is..... I just don't care all that much...... I still love the premise of Dust, and now by extension Legion...... but I genuinely got up, watched the key not......and just took it without really even caring........

Developing for a console will just end the same way as Dust did. PCs can be upgraded, Consoles can not. PCs don't cost Gé¼1000 anymore, you can get something decent for about Gé¼500, which is the same price as a console.

Consoles come and go, PC is eternal. It's the only platform where Dust can evolve and live for 10 years. With that said I have nothing against a PS4 port later on. |

As cool as it would be for all 3 platforms to play together, Sony and Microsoft won't play nice and allow it to happen. However, Sony is lenient enough with their update procedure to allow for MMOs to exist on their platform, Microsoft requires exorbitant amounts of money from the dev if they want to update their game.
Nonetheless, I would love to see PC, PS4, and X1 players together on the same server, playing together in the same matches.

There is no PS4. There will not be a PS4 version of Legion either. Use your head, you got screwed.
You will never be able to transfer anything to legion, CCP is out of the console gaming business. |

I would like to point out that one of the aspects of Dust that first drew me in was the fact the interaction between players on a PC and a Console. This is a huge thing and I think it is an aspect that many people appreciate when they speak about more EVE interaction. I recently was explaining this link to someone and they loved the cross medium interaction and wanted to know if it was being strengthened. This interaction as far as I know is unique to Dust and Eve and building further on this would really place CCP as an innovator in gaming.

Omg, i swear you read nothing. CCP is out of the console world. They are a PC company with development on Morpheus, they've already killed their PS Vita game, they killed darkness, and now Dust.
There will be no PS4 legion. Get over it. It's not happening.
There will be no transfer of data to Legion, the data belongs to Sony and any attempt to use or take from it or anything or the sort will result in Sony taking CCP to court.
CCP lost $20m+ last year screwing around on the consoles! they will not have it happen again. They are not going to make a brand new game and start off by rewarding dust players with 40-50m SP.
Face it, and stop,complaining. It's over. Read the articles, listen to the question period of the stream, the confirm its over.

There are more than a few misconceptions here about PC gaming that I'm disappointed to see you make here. You don't need a $1000 dollar computer to play even the most recently released AAA titles at or around 60FPS in High/Ultra settings, competing or besting the results of the newly released next gen consoles. So let's not bring the price point of a good gaming PC into this discussion as it really doesn't hold much relevance here. If we're both okay with abandoning (yes, abandoning) the PS3 player base and forcing players to buy a $400 PS4 then it shouldn't be much of a stretch for them to spend the money that they would have spent on another console to beef up or build whatever existing PC hardware they have at their disposal.
If we're both in agreement that Dust coming to PS3 in the first place was a mistake then why would we advocate for CCP to make the same mistake twice with coming to PS4? There are limitations to console gaming for a title like Legion that would disappear with the switch to PC gaming. We could have a test server where we could mass test/bug fix builds or ideas CCP is experimenting with on the fly. On PC we don't have to deal with the middleman (Sony) standing in the way or delaying whatever patch CCP needed or wanted to apply in the game. Thinking in the long term here consoles will always be held back by the finite time scale of each generation - for a game like Legion do we want to continually have to redevelop the game after the console manufacturer arbitrarily decides to cut off support? So long term prospects also favor the PC as a platform not only to release on but to improve on as hardware continually improves and becomes more widely available. Consoles are unfortunately locked to their 4-5 year upgrade cycles for the duration.
It is in CCPs best interest to cut their losses and switch to PC, both for achieving the long term goals of the project and for making sure said project is secure in its existence over the several year lifespan of both EVE and Legion. If we truly want to see a relevant connection between the two games then PC is the platform it needs to happen on. If we truly want to see them achieve the promise the original Dust idea had then its going to need to happen on PC.
