I am how ever dissatisfied by the way CCP has handled this. There not being a clear answer to whether or our Dust characters will be carried over means that there is little to no reason in continuing to play Dust. Dissatisfied, doesn't even begin to express how I feel about CCP. Not because Dust is dead (it was coming), but because of the way it was done. For the past few months we have had some major sp events which lead to adverts for omega boosters only to later find out that, if you did spend your money on aurum to get these boosters... you just wasted your money because this game is going to be dead. Thankfully I did not spend any money on aurum during these events, but that just shows how greedy CCP is. The biggest thing that CCP did that really just chaps my as$ (granted it didn't happen to me, but this is still f*cked up) was the constant encourgement for dust players to buy a fanfest ticket and go to iceland (which they offer a link that provides packages to include travel and lodging) only to tell these same players that did go to fanfest "your game is dead, legion will replace it, and legion is for PC players only. Basically, "hey you dumb as$ console players that were stupid enough to buy a ticket here... F*CK. YOU." CCP just pulled a "bonus round" on those console players. I almost did go to iceland and not only am I glad I didn't buy aurum for these events, but thankful I didn't go to fanfest. Although, if I was there, I think I might draw a "D" on that pretty new monument CCP had made. "D" for Dust... ya, I recently watched vendetta. You should go now and get one of the Devs drunk. After a few rounds of sex you could draw a D on his forehead.
Hmmm... now, unfortunately for the rest of you, I feel justified in essentially having left Dust shortly after BF4 came out. I really have only enough time in my life to become proficient with a single game and with BF4 I know what I'm getting into. Did it have problems when it first came out? Just like Dust, yes it did. Are they pretty much solved now? Yep. Although BF4s problems were solved in a fraction of the time it took Dust to get up to snuff, but I digress.
I left Dust because I really didn't like this free-to-play-but-not-really-free-if-you-want-to-succeed (if only the 'suckas' bought arum, CCP woulda pulled the plug much sooner -- unless, as rumor has it, Sony paid CCP) model and over a year of playing through imbalances, corrections, (and their associated 'consolation respecs'), glitches and waiting for the 'it will get better' to hit that sweet spot (which for me never really happened.)
Apparently, Legion is the 'real Dust 514'. We helped CCP figure out the kind of game they really want to have. Those of us that bought aurum (and whatever money Sony threw their way) were the ultimate suckers thinking that all this time, effort and money would lead to a golden period of play -- just like in Eve. Didn't everyone secretly think that a next-gen version of Dust (Legion?) would end up on the PS4? It was a logical move, right?
But, nope. We were the 'practice girlfriends' -- the 'starter wives' -- and now that CCP has grown up and figured out what they want in an FPS, they are going back to that safe harbor they know: the PC. So, I guess if you plan on going to PC gaming (and all the additional periodic HW upgrade costs involved, plus all the money you will throw to CCP even if it's 'free to play'), good luck and been nice playing with ya.
