They where upset as expected but being able to talk directly to CCP Rouge and CCP Saberwing and CCP Logibro and CCP Z and the CPM as made them understand that Legion is needed, and it is the way to continue the dream for fighting on planets within the eve universe. This dream is nearly a decade old now. As for thier own opinions you're better asking them yourself; Denni, Zion, Aeon, Regnum (if he ever stops getting banned from the forums o~o) Zatara quite a few more. Few of the other folks there are like me; they community members of the dream and have been following it whever it went; others are like those most upset here; those who came aboard as the game launched. It was going to be bitter but I know that the community next year is not going to be the same as the one we had two days ago. Sure some old dust vets will be there and of couse well get new players as well because of legion heading to pc; but the community as a whole is going have to evolve as much as dust 514 is.

Back when nobody had an idea what Phase 2 would look like

Back when I really thought phase 3 was going to be an RTS and to prevent getting killed in orbit you landed this battlecruiser sized ship down to be your base and deploy an army.

That dream is still alive; the platforms it may be on continue to shift and change but the dream carrys on and its going to continue to evolve.

I remember when CCP announced it for console; the outrage made what you guys are doing seem rather tame at the time; we didnt have any Warcouncil we didnt have any CPM; or a community that tolerated it much back then and everything just got threadlocked and banned for those irate with it because it was a different game.

Soon dust started to become something and the annoucments of ps4 was around the corner; I am no producer I have no idea why they couldnt shift ofter to the ps4 maybe to not garnish the reputation of a launch; maybe to many ps3 assests could not be carried over or just simply there was a significant number of ps3 specialists on the team; we dont know and may never know why ccp chose ps3. Even then ps3 annoucment continued to **** off people.

And now we're here. We're litterally at the limits with the ps3; the 256mb shared + harddrive streaming and network streaming is not enough to handle the game. We could spend thousands in optimizing on a complicated platform and we're running out of tricks. Poorer optimizations version of Dust 514 should been telling tale of the signs of difficulty of making dust 514 work completly on the ps3; I mean we melted PS3s for amarr sake. There may be doubters to this claim all I can say is why isnt Planetside 2 heading for the ps3? True other games can look good on the ps3 but the lot of them cheat; go in god mode where walking through walls are possible and flying and you will see how much they do cheat the system; and the cheats they use are impossible for dust 514 to utilize.

Enter uprising 1.0; destroyed and hopes of many; broke more ps3s; ultimately tarnished the dream and the CPM 0 was then drafted to become a full scale intended CPM. With that we lost the previous executive and talent and a new one was sent in to clean up his mess. CCP Rouge took his time to soak in new eden; check the cards delt to him and he made the calls. CCP Rogue was very honest with the CPM when he talked with the CPM for the first time. He didn't sell us a fancy car; he didnt sell us a grand vision that can't come true anytime soon. He told us the truth. Since then CCP Rouge got the talent he needed; shaped up the studio to be able to carry it out and began to execute his plan which most of the world saw first fruits of today. And since cannot NDA what I havent seen; that stage demonstration is the first time I have seen legion run.

If Dust 514 was dealt a deathblow it was back in uprising 1.0; we been on life support ever since then; monthly updates where emergency operations for the whole year almost since launch.

Legion is a new clone body being prepared; its going to be up to us to try to figure out which organs are worth transfering over and which ones to make anew but the clone is far far from ready; but the dream will live on. The ulimate betrayl would to let the dream die.

Soon the surviving and new merged community will be chanting the words

"We are Legion."

But those who been here siince the beginning will know the truth:

IWS a question, as sensible and well known as your point about the PS3 being at its limit is (we all know its true guys, people have been arguing for dust to be moved to other platforms since it was announced), why was the PC chosen instead of the PS4 for legion? Given that the PS4 is the natural hardware progression for much of the dust community and would still give the devs a lot more resources to use than dust.

You are lucky you have had the insight, known what was happening, know what was happening for an extended period of time, we the community haven't, I think you forget this, not a dig IWS, this is just how it appears to me because you actually cannot see it from our perspective, you can try to but you can't.

The news at the Dust 514 Keynote is like finding out your girlfriend isn't pregnant, you're relieved, even a little elated but there's also this part of you that's disheartened even sad at what could have been, going forward this will be good for "Mercenaries on the Ground"

for those who have experienced this situation you should get it, I love Dust514 I've met some amazing people in the community, I'm not going anywhere probably until the light gets switched off, and I will almost certainly move over to Eve : Legion when it's released or even during open Beta, why you ask ?
