Hey guys,
Long time player of EvE here who has experienced this whole journey from Mordu's Private Trials. Let me just say that I went into this Fanfest with some really big hopes for future features for Dust 514. I am going to describe myself as a bit of a faithful who has defended Dust's less than stellar first year to a number of people who saw the writing on the wall before I did. I thought I would be happy to see Dust coming to the PC (and let me just state, I do think that this is the best chance for the game to have a future), however, this was one of the worst handled announcements from a company I have ever seen, and a slap in the face to their entire player base.
I think all the reasons why have been adequately covered by the other posts here, but the fact that I just forked out $20 for a live stream (I can't imagine what those who traveled to Iceland must be feeling) to be told that the game I've spent more money on in a year than an EvE account "and we thank you for that" is a thing of the past with Legion being the future is what primarily motivated me to make this post. Nothing on what to expect for the current PS3 players, which I want to reinforce again, IS YOUR ONLY PLAYER BASE ATM!!! You invite players to Fanfest (or charge them 20 to watch the live stream) to tell them that they were basically a cash farm to fund the development of a game it looks like you were always intending on making on another platform, and that if we don't have the hardware to upgrade, we're SOL in terms of experiencing the vision CCP initially promised us. What you SOLD us.
I'm not here to call anyone specific out. I am here to express my dissatisfaction as your customer and a consumer of your products. For a company that relies so much on a loyal consumer base for its existence; who clearly does care about its player base in so many aspects, this is appalling. I have no idea how this fanfest schedule was allowed to proceed as it did. No one expected the PS3 version of this game to last forever, but how you've treated your current player base is nothing short of dishonorable.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
