Announcement of the show by far.
SUPER EXCITED!
As someone that got into the very first Beta for DUST514, I can't wait. I've been there from the beginning and I love what promise Legion holds.
I like your enthusiasm, but lets examine this more closely Dust has not lived up to what promises were made about it in the beginning PVE, player trading, a meaningful connection to EVE and many more than I can be bothered to list.
Basically this keynote could be summed up thusly - Dust 514 has failed, we are rebuilding it on PC and abandoning the PS3/4 but Legion will be everything we wanted Dust to be.
This keynote was simply them admitting that their experiment failed, now based on that and the fact that the last few months CCP have been hinting about the exciting future of Dust 514 but then announcing what is essentially a different game is a giant middle finger to the community. Based upon such blatant disregard to their community and the fact that if you have been playing for so long you should be accustomed to CCP setting goals for the game then failing/abandoning them, that I find it highly odd that anyone would show faith in "promise" or "potential" infact anyone who trusts CCP at this point has questionable sanity after so many SOON's or wait till you see what we have planned etc... that ended in farce pinning your hopes on yet another promise of what is to come is ludicrous.
For players who came to Dust from EVE this is a good move if they have the hardware to handle it, for the console crowd this will potentially turn future customers away from CCP, imagine in say 2 years CCP perfect Legion and decide to have another shot at the console market even before the game is released they would get torn apart by reviewers because of the way they treat their console customers in the past and the fact that their last attempt ended in failure. For PC elitists this is like Christmas come early they get to blow their trumpets and declare the PC the master race and so on and so forth. But how many new customers (as in non-EVE/Dust) will try legion do you think? It will be tainted by Dust's failure and potential players could look at how much of a mess Dust is after so long and could be worried Legion will also turn out to be a buggy unbalanced mess (before people go on about how CCP have experience coding on PC yes they do so it might be less buggy but they have shown time and time again they have not the faintest idea how to balance an FPS)
In summary I am extremely disappointed in this both the manner of its announcement and the building of false hope for Dust's future. My free trial of EVE ran out today I was going to subscribe but now I am no longer as sure I enjoyed EVE don't get me wrong but I am just so disenchanted with CCP at the moment that I am unsure. Do not read that as a because they cancelled Dust I am not playing EVE this is just me struggling to motivate myself to give money to a company I do not trust.
PS. Starting an event the day before fanfest that promotes buying a pack then the next day announcing Dust's replacement and going into 0 details on what will happen with Dust smacks of one last money grab by CCP knowing Dust players will probably not invest after the announcement so kudos for that bit of trolling/bastardry CCP.
