Heavies -Slow,durable,deadly force Assault/Basic medium-Faster,constant force Logistics - Equipment mule, carries the most valuable cargo yet is slowest and weakest of all medium frames,not combat proficient. Slots to be used for future equipment modules that have yet to be added. Light/Scout - Intel via passive scans,speed which breaks hit detection. -or- Fast,unhitable due to game breaking speed,deadly force.
Do you see why scouts are more preferred?
Their one weakness can be overcome by a built in effect,their speed. Heavies on the other hand must use an external source to overcome theirs. Assault/Basic can't compete with the jump-in jump-out one hit kill potential Light/Scouts can do. Logistics could stand a better chance with a sidearm,but it would render Assault class worthless.
A very simple solution? Remove a Light/Scouts light weapon,this will make Assault/Basic mediums the go-to suit for....well...Assaulting.
Light/ Scouts comprise too many positives and thus render the Assault class worthless.
If this were implemented their would be tears of blood on the forums,not because they desire balance,but because their all seeing OHK Cal scouts couldn't assault and conquer points anymore,and a single scout couldn't mow down a whole squad by themselves.
It would force this new breed of scout to use teamwork to survive,instead of needing a team to kill them.
All except the Amarr scout should lose it's light weapon,that would be in-line with the standard already set by the Amarr logistics.
In short,giving the Assault a defined role of attacking must cost other suits their weapons e.g. logistics sidearm.

the problem is specialized suits arent as specialized as they are in eve with massive role bonuses and bonuses that are actually useful.
having 25% fitting bonus on an assault suit for weapons means nothing as im still gonna have more cpu and pg on a logi, scout or heavy suit.
they generally design the suits around the eve counterparts.
the scout is a covert ops frigate. the logi is a logi, the assault is a poorly made heavy assault cruiser. the commando is a battlecruiser and the sentinel is a marauder.

Your idea is bad and you should feel bad The problem isnt just the suits speed but a mix of different factors such as brick tanking being so easy to pull off and cloaks being a broken concept so to get balance first we need to either heavily tweak or just remove cloaks, tweak armor plates since they give so much health with such a low drawback, and yes tweak the speed a bit while at the same time better designing the maps The map bit is the important part since a scouts mobility should be its greatest draw but just running around like speedy gonzales is lazy design when you consider installations could have a veritable maze of duct work and narrow passages only a scout could fit through
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world.

Talking about me? Ive been mainly a medium suit player since day one since I like the versatility that its supposed to have and only really used light suits in the past as a sort of extra challenge to my usual play style Think of it like training with weighted gear, when the extra weight comes off you are that much better
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world.

no but this is an fps. every suit should be able to kill every other suit and that includes tanks. the suit/ship counterparts are just how they pick the roles and generally design the suit. the covert ops frigate is supposed to be hard to hit.
in eve a frigate cant equip the same plates as a battleship. we should have heavy plates, medium plates (current) and light plates.

Note I said light suit and not scout suit, I dont use a bunch of SP on something Im going to play only now and then and a standard level light frame worked for my purposes back before they got super buffed
Anyway this goes back to what I said at first, the problem with scouts right now isnt entirely in the suits its in modules and equipment and how they blend with the suit and to fix the role you need to tweak those first and done right youll end up with a quick but fragile suit that can use a cloak to cross open ground but the cloak drops when you get shot and can squeeze through places in installations other suits need to take the long way around Oh and taking away any suits primary weapon slot and leaving it with just a sidearm is ridiculous, it was ridiculous when people wanted that to happen to logis and its ridiculous now Maybe, and this is just a maybe, the only suit that should have a side arm only is the pilot suit if its ever finished and thats only because a pilots primary weapon is its vehicle

The issue is the scout suit dominates all roles. The cpu/ pg which the cloak debut provided allows them to fit a slayer suit with an hp AND dps AND speed advantage.
Waiting for tomorrows announcement before I qq too much more.
