I am sure there are many different opinions on this and I am sincerely curious to read them.
Can a fatty with an HMG have an honorable, skillful kill?
Does a shotgun kill require skill?
A tank kill in any shape or form?
Explosives are out?
No combat rfile kill requires any skill and is dishonorable?
Rail rifles? I'm guessing no.
Is a skillful kill only someone in a starter fit standing right in front of you killing you with a MLT assault rifle? Or in a gimped assault suit? Doing it in a lower eHP scout suit seems dirty.
I am partly being sarcastic, and partly really curious what our community feels killing with honor and skill really means.

Look, the opinion of skillful kill is not shared by all but the basics are: using strategy, patience, positioning (movement, or knowing surroundings), awareness (whats around you, whose around you), and execution (ie doing what you want to do, or aiming) to get a kill. Now for each weapon and suit the opinions differ even more, a heavy would favor positioning and awareness more, while a scout will favor strategy and skillful movement (as not to be detected before he got into appropriate range, minus cloaks ofc).
Explosives can be used skillfully yes, tank killing yes, rail rifles and other weapons (see above) yes.
It's about how players get their advantages (and not SP based ones) and if you can use movement, positioning, and knowledge to gain an advantage (could be as simple get getting higher ground, or using cover) then that is skill in positioning if done intentionally and not dumb spawn luck. T
here are varying degrees but the type of weapon, suit, SP etc should not be a factor in a skillful kill its about the play and not as well the final result. Make the right decisions, there's a good chance you will be rewarded. |

I consider a skillful kill to be one where a weapon is used for its intended purposes to great effect, or it's used outside of it's intended purpose to hilarious or outstanding effect.
I feel like there are very few skillful kills with the core rifles, but jumpshots count.
A lot of times I get mowed down with an AR at 35 meters when I cross a field without looking... That's not a skillful kill, that's a stupid death.
to recount one of my own skillful kills: Recently I was piloting a dropship, and another dropship (good pilot, forgot who) had me at the perfect angle to slam down onto me (whale-flop). He didn't know I was watching him, because I had a gunner firing onto ground troops. At the right time, I hit the AB and the hardeners, nosed up into him and caused his dropship to flip into a pylon, destroying the dropship and getting an instant kill. Suprise! I imagine as someone with the patience to pilot a dropship as well as he was flying (he would have done the same to me), he had to appreciate the skill, timing, use of equipment (without the hardener he would have killed me), and poise that it took to score the kill.

Yes anyone can have a skillful kill. It depends on the situation. If you are by yourself and you are facing one opponent in a perfect environment, then yes there is a such a thing as a skillful kill. I have been in to many situations to count where I am about to finish off the person i am soling and get killed by another player, let be a sniper, SG, or unknown. It is frustrating to have victory all but assured and then have it taken away. You just have to let the last game go and look forward to the next, I am still learning that lesson, but someday I will have the will just to let things be. |
