Here's how I imagine what I wrote must have looked like to you. "We have to care about EVE to play DUST." Here's what I actually wrote, "You need to have a basic understanding of EVE to contribute to a meaningful EVE-DUST connection and gameplay." And also this, "DUST's success relies on its connection with EVE, and that means you need to have some kind of basic understanding of the EVE community and what's going on with it. Any confusion? DUSTs success relies on it being a successful FPS experience, NOT a magical bond between the two games. That is an awesome addition that would really flesh this game out, but under no circumstances do we need that connection for the game to be good. CCP has to make a game worth playing before trying to tie the two together. Anyways, Fanfest boils down to one simple thing for me, and one simple thing ONLY: PvE or GTFO
I'd argue against that. Dust, as a FPS, will be mediocre for a while until we find the right balance across the board. That means as a FPS it won't be much competition for other big blockbuster titles. The EVE connection in-game for mechanics such as game modes, contracts, PVE, and the twill give Dust it's success early on. I'm not saying we should focus less on FPS mechanics but that the connection with EVE is a much bigger issue than you're making it out as, and more than likely will be a big decider on the game.
Because, really I believe the biggest draw to the game is that it's in a shared Universe with active players from another game.

Skihids wrote:DUST won't be succesful until it breaks out of the small player count lobby shooter with one single game mode and one single objective mode with crappy communications which causes all public games to resemble a riot rather than a coordinated battle.
No amount of EVE connection will make DUST balanced and fun to play as long as every merc and every game asset is focused on the one single role of slaying. CCP is stuck trying to balance a main battle tank against a scout suit because in the end they both occupy the exact same role, infantry slayer.
CCP is going to have to deliver on its original promise of deep strategic gameplay before a connection will mean anything.
You're saying it like the EVE connection won't influence the game to change. We can't have no real EVE connection with the current lobby system.
But besides that. There's not one single role of slaying, even right now.

Continuing with my theme of an optimistic view point for DUST's future and how it's related with and dependent on a meaningful connection with New Eden (That means EVE and, soon, Valkyrie), I'll be watching for how CCP is developing a third game, what steps they're taking, plans, ideas, etc. and how they could relate to DUST to make it a better game.
Personally interested in the lore and whether or not it's a part of the sandbox.

Ask yourself. Why doesn't CCP support PLEX in DUST yet? What needs to be done to work towards that goal? How can you influence CCP via the forums, social media outlets, and other avenues to make this happen?
The highest, most noble goal of any merc is to be able to buy beer (and other things) with his ISK. Did you forget how much ISK is one PLEX? It's 700.000.000 ISK per PLEX. You wouldn't need to ever fight a match because you can buy so many proto fits that you will never run out of those.
I guess DNS is starting to look good now.

PLEX is the Piloting License Extension so we can't really have that?
Mercenaries don't really need a license to uh...Merc. I guess a license for cloning yourself?

A Valkyrie is a fighter pilot that has been snatched at the brinks of death and made into an immortal privateer.
Also they're a part of the Guristas.

Well they were initially Guristas. Now they're lead by a former-Guristas leader, the female we see on the EVE-V associated media, with a score to settle.

They've shown the Caldari and Amarr fighters. Pretty good looking. It was a combination of Caldari and Amarr fighters. Since they originated from a pirate faction they're using the pirate faction design philosophy for the ships.
Thats what I thought I heard o,o. Should've confirmed it when they said missiles for the one that I thought was Amarr. Tell me. What pirate faction combines Gallente and Caldari tech?
