Kigurosaka Laaksonen wrote:For example, right now CCP Fozzie and CCP Rise are talking about balancing Pirate Faction ships. You could be listening and getting a general idea of what 'pirate faction' means. You can see how ships progress in Pirate Factions goes from Frig > Cruiser > Battleship. You can see that they get additional hull bonuses and require multiple spaceship command skills. And most importantly, you can use what you learn to come up with ideas about how pirate factions can be implemented in DUST. You can also learn what tiericide actually is. |

Another example of something you could learn from paying attention to the EVE side of things: In an earlier panel they were talking about NPE and someone asked about voiced tutorials and they gave a very good explanation as to why they haven't done them. It basically comes down to if something changes in the game it makes it very difficult to change the tutorial. This also applies to DUST because it has the same iterative design model. One solution they mentioned was sufficiently advanced text-to-voice technology, which we unfortunately don't have yet. I've seen a lot scripted tutorial ideas posted on these forums, the posters of which could benefit from understanding these limitations. |

DUST Fiend wrote: DUSTs success relies on it being a successful FPS experience, NOT a magical bond between the two games. That is an awesome addition that would really flesh this game out, but under no circumstances do we need that connection for the game to be good. CCP has to make a game worth playing before trying to tie the two together.
Anyways, Fanfest boils down to one simple thing for me, and one simple thing ONLY:
PvE or GTFO
If DUST is going to succeed it needs something that sets it apart from the myriad successful shooters already on the market. That's the EVE/DUST link. Yeah, it needs a lot of work in other areas, but improving the core gameplay and deepening the EVE/DUST link are not mutually exclusive. They can do both. |

Continuing with my theme of an optimistic view point for DUST's future and how it's related with and dependent on a meaningful connection with New Eden (That means EVE and, soon, Valkyrie), I'll be watching for how CCP is developing a third game, what steps they're taking, plans, ideas, etc. and how they could relate to DUST to make it a better game. Same. The CSM panel was also valuable insight that carries over to the CPM. |

Also they're a part of the Guristas.
Well they were initially Guristas. Now they're lead by a former-Guristas leader, the female we see on the EVE-V associated media, with a score to settle.

They've shown the Caldari and Amarr fighters. Pretty good looking. It was a combination of Caldari and Amarr fighters. Since they originated from a pirate faction they're using the pirate faction design philosophy for the ships. |
