Updates usually land on Tuesdays but I could see CCP holding it back until Wednesday and lining it up. Apparently only a small team worked on Uprising 1.8 while everyone else worked on the expansion, so they majority of CCP Shanghai would have from Uprising 1.7 launch to 5/14, which is about 5 months time. So it could happen.
Amarr are the good guys.

I really don't think a major update is going to be primed and ready for release in May. If anything I think it's more likely to coincide with EVE's big summer release assuming the update comes with additional EVE/Dust connectivity.

It's not CCP's choice, it's Sony's to make patch days Tuesdays, it's that way for the majority of games on PSN.
