WoD took 6-7 years to develop and it didn't even reach closed beta before it got shut down. Dust on the other hand took only 2-3 years and it's already released with a stable revenue via boosters and AUR suits/weapons/vehicles. Eve Valkyrie is less than a year old and it's already almost at closed beta and it's looking promising. 2. I wouldn't expect any refunds. Besides, from what I have heard and read, DUST is working with a lot less resources internally than it did a while ago which I am guessing will enable DUST to live that much longer even with a dwindled fanbase. I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

Yeah, CCP have managed to persuade thousands (possibly low tens of thousands) of people to pay the equivalent of an MMO subscription via boosters to play something that is basically a low budget lobby shooter. It's quite a clever trick when you look at it that way, especially when you consider it is a recruitment tool for EVE as well.

Can't remember if that was real or it's just my awesome imagination at work. If Dust shut down I would have learned an important lesson: Never spend money on a F2P game. I'm still trying to figure out how CCP managed to get me to do that...there is just always something else to put SP in I guess... You can either pay to experience the full game quickly OR grind to earn/experience the full game. I think that generally they target players like myself who can afford to pay for stuff, we experience the full game quicker and either stay or go. The f2p players will grind for ages only to find out whether the game they are playing is truly good or not. Either way I think its quite obvious now that grind centric games that are f2p just sucker people in to a pile of sht. Like warframe, I paid for all my sht right away and got bored and quit within a week because its fking boring, f2p players will literally grind for months just to fine out that it's boring and tedious. Tldr: f2p games offer the option to pay and see if you truly like it or not or you can grind for months just to find out that its really nothing special. If you know what a telefrag match is, then I love you. The tritanium I sell is more relevant than dust has ever been.
