I suggested a system which divided players into tiers (not tiericide which divides based on suit choice). It would be a two part system, the first part which we can call beginners is based upon SP strictly. The second part, based upon a score system which will be average WP + SP to provide a general overall skill level for a player. Players will be therefore put into matched based on skill after 10m SP, but still keeping inside SP tiers.
I also would add that if one were to squad, it would be the score of the top 3 players in any sized squad which would count, therefore lowering the risk of squad stacking or using an alt to lower a squads score.
The general feeling is to separate the good from the bad, and the elite from the good.
0-4m SP would be the battle academy. All weapons and suits would be available to players. There would be no vehicles past a mot tank and lav per team at their spawn point. Just to get players use to seeing 1 vehicle and dealing with it. ISK in tthis stage will not be used, but still accumulated so as to give players a good money base at the next tier.
5-9m SP, a beginner bracket. This would be where only militia vehicles would be introduced. Players would receive a stat reset during this phase, not to be used after 9m SP. Again, strictly based on SP. If you wanted to limit Proto gear here, that's good idea but players can still skill i to tier 5 to get bonuses.
10-14 and 15-19m SP is advanced, beginning of skill based squads. Score will reflect who your teammates and opponents will be but inside of the two SP boundaries.
20-24m - again skill will be a factor. 25m+ - the elite tier. Skill matters and players will be put into matches according to skill scores.
Just a rough idea, I've written more in other posts, but matchmaking system based on SP + skill is a good idea... One based on limiting suit tiers is a serious mistake and is counter productive. It will only increase the disparity and lead to huge problems, and will be a highly abused system which will only punish the players we should be trying to protect. |
