If any of you know I'm a great fan of Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid games. I simply love the darts and Surround Sound Equipment in both games. In Syphon Filter they have three different darts for snipers, the shock dart is used to kill one man silently by electrifying him, Explosive Dart explodes when detonated is loud and effective against both infantry and vehicles, Acid dart sends a smoke of acid that is less effective than the EXP dart but quite and has larger range.
Introducing Them In Game:
Using The Dart- You would charge the sniper and the pellet would switch into a dart, you can see whether the dart has hit something if the signal from the dart is moving. Activating the dart would require you to tap the fire button again. When using a dart you cannot fire your gun as normal until you have activated the dart. You can only fire 1 dart per round. EX: You have three bullets in your sniper round, you can only use a dart in that round but you can't fire twice in that round. 1 dart per 3 bullets.
The Minmatar Explosive Dart- The Dart inflicts the same amount of damage to both vehicles and infantry. Direct Damage would be higher than splash damage. 25% less damage than Remote Explosives and same 5m Splash Radius.
The Caldari Electro Dart- Deals about 500 damage, when target is damaged they can't move until the shock of the dart is done. If the target survives, it moves at a much slower rate for 3 sec. ONLY EFFECTS ONE TARGET
The Gallente Surround Indicator Dart- When it hits its target, the enemies movements will be tracked by sound and movement. They will not appear on your radar and you can't see their chevrons, but you can see where they are by the signal. Last around 3 seconds and also track movement of anything 5m from the target that was hit.

I think that needs a bit more balancing.
The indicator dart sounds largely less efficient than simply using callouts, line of sight, and a few bullets.
The shock dart sounds a bit overpowered, it would take a pretty tanked up dropsuit to survive. I mean, a OHK body shot on anything but a scout is bit much.
And as much as I like the Idea of shooting a red with an explosive dart on his way to the frontline then detonating when he gets there, it's again a little bit too much power, without too much difficulty, or risk.
I'm all for different ammo types for each gun, but just like anything, it needs balance.
Get the balance straight, I'll approve. |
