This is not the election for California new joke mayor or which Wrestler Minnesota is going to vote in next (+1 to those who figure out why I mention these two states in zatara's defense)
It's a video game election, and you're saying because of his tags, and selective track record, you will judge him?
This is why I have no faith in this community. The only people showing intelligence proves how little they actually have. You're letting the EvE Metasphere dictate how you approach Dust. It's a different Metasphere completely. We're in a tiny region where a corp can only do so much on it's own when it's vastly out numbered by equal skill. But to make a corp to even reach that skill is a feat on it's own, and proof zatara has dedication to this game. A proof that FAR OUT WEIGHTS THE OTHER CANDIDATES. Besides maybe the Dust Uni one.
What does it matter if he's in DNS? The situation he was in to make him join is not comparable to any EvE standards to set a precedence to snipe him over it. No one in EvE gets backed into the corner and forced to leave the game and go play pubs with terrible players all day. Do you guys understand how mind numbing it is playing pubs for competitive players? He kept content for his guys the best way he could, and you can ask nothing more from someone whose leading you.
How you can stand running for CPM, Zatara, I will never know. You're a saint. It will take some time before people see past your tags and into your heart, but when they do, you'll see votes flying in.
I told you, in the other thread, I would respond to this in the War Room because I don't want to sidetrack Zatara's campaign thread.
The truth is, I can't begin to fathom how you truly feel that these CPM candidates shouldn't be judged on who they affiliate themselves with and their own actions in game. Isn't that all we have to go on? Heck, anyone can support any idea or any platform, but WHAT ARE YOUR ACTIONS. Your actions give us the best opportunity to gauge your future decisions.
I don't know what you're talking about with the EvE stuff, and I truly don't care.
All I care about is that these CPMs represent the entire community, and do so honestly.
And being part of DNS is a big deal. Sorry. It's my belief. The fact that he's part of an alliance that has ruined a game mode for the majority of players is a big deal. How can I trust him to make the right decisions, say the right things to CCP, if he can't even do that in game?
Would you want Ariana to be a CPM? If so, how do you justify that? If not, why?
If someone's actions go against the community's best interests, how can they then want to represent that same community?
As for Zatara's decision being the best one for his corp, it depends on how you want to look at it. My personal opinion is that they would have been stronger and a beacon to the rest of the community had they not turned tail and joined DNS. Yes, they would have lost their districts, but who cares. They could have gone back to the drawing board with Tso's and came up with a better plan on how to attack DNS.
Either let the enemy cut off your head and die with some dignity--with the chance to respawn stronger--or get on your knees and beg for your life. There is no wrong or right with these because everyone is different.
I am of the mindset to let my head get chopped off because I know how strong of a message that is to those who witnessed it. |
I'll say this, Zatara's no Kain or Hans, he's a good guy from my experience, he wants the best for his guys, and he felt joining DNS is the right choice. I'm only uneasy on how he represents, no candidate candidates who have a better boots on the ground experience in PC than he does. Mechanics wise meh but if someone is to talk about balancing for PC or map design he's the man.
FA lost their stuff either way, SeVeN didn't have districts, hell I've not even seen a full squad of SeVeN in a pub match for months. FA had more to lose than their districts, they would lose members, opportunities, riches and glory for nothing they couldn't have in DNS.
How did the leaders of DNS ruin it? Honestly put yourself in their position or as a good Player, I can choose to be poor and die horribly or join DNS and be part of the riches? Are they not supposed to conquer as much as they can in PLANETARY CONQUEST?
CPM is an out of game position, and honestly this is where I'm the most worried is how to separate the player and the person. I'd be more interested to hear certain people's opinions than his or anyone who posts here.
Don't worry about Se\7eN, Killer, we're doing just fine.
As for your discussion around Zatara being a good guy, tha'ts fine. I'm sure he is. I don't honestly care. As I've stated multiple times, I just want honesty when it comes to CPM candidates. Zatara does not fit that requirement.
Thor is right, the perception is that DNS has ruined the game. So, with Zatara being part of DNS, how does he convince the community that he's not out to ruin the game? I'm not saying I completely agree with this perception, but--nonetheless--the perception exists.
How many times can people ask the question, "how did DNS do anything wrong; they just did what you would have done?" Seriously, how many times? To me, this is actually just as bad as those with "tin foil hats" that think everyone is out to get them; that those with power are using it to an unfair advantage.
My main concern with DNS is that out of one side of their mouth they speak of good competition; it's all about good competition. Yet, on the other side, they blue up any good competition.
Ah, but I digress. This isn't mean to be a DNS bashing thread. It was in response to Sota, who responded to my questions of Zatara on his campaign thread. Sota implied that my thought process was what is currently wrong with the community.
Simply put, I think people that don't care about their actions--in any sense--are the problem with this community. Forget the inability to properly communicate. People that continuously make the game unenjoyable are the problem. |

What do you want DNS to do? Aside from fighting each other and I am not sure how the helps other Corps.
An honest answer is wanted. Please tell me what DNS could do to make the game better for others.
That's a great question, big. To be honest, I don't think there is a great answer because the damage has already been done. I would say stop trying to attain 100%, open up districts for sale with the intent on not attacking and grabbing them back, but I can already see the flaws in those options.
I would also say halting all the pubstomping in proto gear, but--again--I can recognize the flaws in that.
So, at this point, I don't see anything DNS can do to get the community more involved or to help their perception. Not that anyone is worried about their perception.
That's as honest a response as I can give you. Sorry if it comes up short. |

Yep, Thor already responded, but it's 6 hours from now. And that's if my kids are in bed on time.
I don't do Skype. I have it, but I just don't use it. |

bigolenuts wrote:So basically, quit playing with the majority of our friends as much, give back the land we fought for and train new players.
Ok, then what? After a few months, maybe that long we go back on the offensive?
So you guys don't like the name "Planetary Conquest"..it should be, "Planetary Fun"?
I appreciate the honest answers but those are things that won't happen as far as I know. There may be a PFC opened back up, but I am against it. Corps just use it to farm ISK. I have open squads almost nightly and only request that the joining parties have a mic. I can only speak for myself though, not the rest of DNS. I try and play with new guys every other day or so. Hard to fit real life in, playing with friends and training some random person that doesn't give 2 ***** about what you have to say.
Yep, like I said, full of major holes. The damage is already done. However, you're making a key assumption: if you stop your pursuit of 100%; if you sell land to other corps, there is a very good possibility that some of the corps in your alliance will not stay there any more.
If they were to break out, that would make your future "offensive" much harder.
Also, Se\7eN was part of PFC for a long time, and our experience never contained any such thing as farming isk. We were under attack every instance our timer came open.
Don't get hung up on the name Planetary Conquest, either. It's just a name. It should be all about having fun; it's a video game. |
