For public contracts, which have no effect on EVE and are not tied to specific planets or facilities, we should be able to select which map(s) we would like to play. Sockets can stay randomized, but being able to select the map would be a very nice feature. As a bonus, this could provide feedback as to which maps players prefer.
In other words: I'm sick of Manus Peak and Fracture Road.

I agree, mainkly that im bored from the same 3 maps being played over and over
maybe they just need a lot more maps... like 3 maps in the n ext update
Or every 2-3 weeks they release new map

Or every 2-3 weeks they release new map That's an unrealistic expectation. I'll be happy if I can just play only the better-designed maps out of our limited selection.

I'd prefer choosing only battles that are starting rather than always getting thrown into nearly finished matches.
Choosing by map sounds good in theory but will really reduce the pool of players. Why? People are only going to choose what they have the most advantage on.
No tanker would choose Gallente Production facility and all snipers would choose Manus Peak. Others would only choose maps that have roofs they can exploit. |

The problem is that the inverse is also true right now- there are maps that pretty much invalidate particular playstyles, like Gallente Research Facility in Dom for tankers, or Manus Peak Dom for knives/shotgun, etc. I think this would be the lesser of two evils. Maybe you should be required to have a minimum of 3-5 maps selected?

Hmm... I can see this working like the way players in Starcraft 2 can 'veto' certain maps in the pool so that they don't play on them while laddering. You'll still have the maps that allow all play-styles being played on, while eliminating the chance of having yourself be rendered effectively useless by the map being unable to support your style of play.
Like take myself for example... mainly, I'm an HMG Amarr Sentinel, so my effectiveness in a match is greatly reduced in maps where there is a lot of large open air areas where snipers can ping me all match with out ever having to worry about any sort of retaliation from me, meaning my team is now down in manpower as I'm effectively suppressed or being killed off by the snipers, so things like fracture road in Dom or Manus Peak I'd 'veto' in order to save myself the frustration and wasted time and effort.
Now, obviously, this has issues with squad members who have vetoed different maps, but I think that can easily be fixed by having what maps are ignored and what aren't be chosen by what the squad lead has vetoed, which also increases the need for inter-squad communication so as to keep members from being dead weight by their specializations being rendered ineffective simply by the map design.
