Factions always reserve their best weapons for their own army and even allies get the 'export version'. They wouldn't sell their best weapons on the open market and to their enemies. Hence the suggestion for moving proto tier to LP Store only.
Proto tier gears get rarer and this could reduce protostomping. Most mercs seems to agree that's bad .

Brutal, yet interesting idea.
There might be some seasons where farming FW battles might happen in ridiculous amounts, though.
Came back to Dust from a break and what did I find?
Cloakies with physical invisibility which works in all situations.=(

Factions don't produce Prototype gear.
Corporations like Cathrum, Core Constructions, Allotek, and Wyrkomi make gear like this.....and they first and foremost are businesses.

Point in case, more than a few caldari prototype suits carry kaalakiota markings, notably the scout... which is interesting as the kaalakiota are also makers of the widow an electronics warfare specialised stealth capable battleship that also sports some of the most advanced jump portal technology in the galaxy

No...just no. I rarely use proto suits or weapons (i.e. almost never with exception to my charge sniper that I stock piled 5k of before prices were raised ) but that would just break things horribly. All of my advanced suits run proto mods, and I don't think people should have to grind 2-3 as much just to fit advanced suits. And if you are only referring to suits and weapons, that is broken too. Besides, it won't fix anything when the cause of endless proto fits is a still broken PC which provides all the ISK to pay for it. You will instead have FW turn into proto or nothing and exclude much of the player base. That won't stop the proto pubstomps, the same guys doing it will continue to do so whenever they get butt hurt because they actually faced another proto squad. The solution remains better matchmaking, not restrictions on getting proto gear.
(Edit) If you are looking to give more reason to play FW, then LP stores could have more variety of content added. Like maybe more variants of suits and weapons which have slightly different stats. |

The closest thing right now to that would be the "Specialist" lines. The Caldari LP store has some prototype Nanohives that are better than the Isk Market's knockoffs, too. But no, that is the closest.

It would make more sense to increase LP payout in FW and add to LP market all items from a race. And change that the LP market accepts only LP points. Different amounts of payouts in different game modes will help to separate players. Read the link at my signature for more information.
This will help the game

Once that'd done lock FW contracts.
Allow Mercenaries to play FW for all factions but recieving half the LP of loyalists. Once this is done FW gear becomes a commodity that only certain groups can produce, there is supply and demand and an economy for those items.

I just don't like it when someone just starts a post , makes a random comment and then becomes a ghost and provides zero input .
I always look at those post and wonder , " what was the real intention of this piece ??? " or were they a troll .

Stop asking for tiercide , your killing variety and the fun of this game at the same dam time .

They are foremost businesses but we've no idea how much clout Factions have over them. Unless you can prove otherwise base on EVE lore, I'll still argue Factions have the influence.

The solution remains (4) better matchmaking, not restrictions on getting proto gear. (1) Grind is not an issue. NPE is. It isn't grind if it's fun. Less proto gear, less protostomp, better NPE. (2) It fixes the issue -- ISK from PC won't buy proto gears when they are sold in LP. (3) FW would become more competitive. But there'd be less proto gears because the supply is low even when the demand is high. (4) It's good to have better matchmaking but until it can solve the one-sided protostomping problem, make proto gears rarer as they should be.
