I started last May and back then, the tutorial system was completely different, as in there wasn't one and it was just a giant ass email with pop up screens telling me what things were in detail. Since then, they've ditched ALL of that and put in a "tutorial" (read with extreme sarcasm) system. I honestly felt the pop ups did a much better job than the bullshit they have now.
I'm not saying it took me long to learn this game but we also have to understand that this UI is a ****** UI. I design UIs for a living and this one is completely non-intuitive. We can claim it is all we want but when you use a tool for months, anything seems intuitive.
I remember one of the most confusing things for me in the market system was the skillbooks. This was before the skill tree bubbles. Skills were just stacked in one long list. I couldn't understand why the green numbers told me 12,000 sp to get the skill but it was saying I'd have to pay 149,000. I eventually realized they were requesting completely different values from different types of currency but **** if that was clear at all.
Also, I've seen a few newberries pop up and asking questions in local (as delightful as that is if you don't have a keyboard) and I've witnessed some pretty horrible bashing/less than useful help from the community. Not all of it mind you, but if they're confused, getting insulted and not having a fun time...damn straight they're going to leave.

Buff basic deductive reasoning and the ability to read before blindly jumping in? How old are you? How old are they? Not everybody is as old as you or as young. Unless you're younger than 14... you should be able to solve the majority of those questions by simply looking at everything within the menu, studying it, and potentially applying it. Also, asking such questions in local or other chats isn't too difficult.
Lol based on the conversations we had about your phenomenal classmates, that's a surprising comment. People vastly overestimate the average attention span and deduction ability of most of the younger generation today. As someone that has to code basic applications/programs to be used by upcoming employees recently graduated, it literally steals years away to have to deliver 400 hours of my life to someone that can't figure out a more than 2 step process.
That being said, I know this gaming community is pretty broad. I think the tutorial system can definitely be improved, mostly through the UI. After that, there is a certain level of helping hand that I feel just proves they aren't the kind of player dust is looking for.
