Q2. Do any sentinals resist nova knife damage? Even though its +0% to both armor and shield im wondering if its still considered rail dmg.
1. The answer to this appears to be very complicated and mixed depending on who you talk to. But so far there has been no official confirmation that headshots are possible even though it might feel like it is. I can tell you that I have knifed a lot of people on their heads (most of them snipers) and I have yet to get the "HEADSHOT" WP bonus. Of course, it could have been many factors such as I may have hit their shoulders or some other quirk in the mechanics and so far the results don't seem to indicate that it's possible. But to be fair, I have not seen any clear evidence that it doesn't exist either. It could be that the headshot damage is being applied but not giving me the "HEADSHOT" WP bonus. (possible bug?)
That said, I would hope that one day Judge Rhadamanthus (our famous Dust equivalent of Numberphile) would post a very good video that may or may not prove the possibility of a NK headhot.
2. Nova Knives, despite being Caldari Tech are not really rail weapons. As far as the server is concerned, Nova Knives are technically just regular sidearms but the damage type dealt appears to be melee type even though Myofibrils have no affect on the weapon in question. Look at the link below. Therefore, heavy suits are NOT resistant to NK damage.

One more thing. Nova Knives are the ONLY weapons in the game that don't have the same proficiency effect as the other weapons do. For other weapons, their proficiency skill book affects only one of two damage types (shield or armor). For the Nova Knives however, their proficiency skill book doesn't do that. Instead it affects both armor AND shields equally. And since we know (at least according to the link) they deal Melee Nova Knive damage, they can effectively bypass the resistance of the heavy suits.
But then this just adds more questions. If the NKs do melee damage, how come they can't be affected by the myfibrils. It's likely that the standard melee (your fists or the butt of your rifle) have their own melee damage tag as well that is completely separate from the melee nova knife tag.
But still leaves another question. How does this translate the melee nova knife damage tag towards shield and armor?
