A solution I've always favoured is making tank mods take up large amounts of PG, and utility mods take up a large amount of CPU instead. That way, you can't stack every slot with tank because you'll run out of PG.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

Fixing the Shield/Armor imbalance to the point where they are equally viable accross, and creating incentives to run something other than an HP module would severely decrease the need & popularity of dual tanking
Though people such as Cat Merc, Arkena, and KAGEHOSI have created some threads highlighting the main issues of dual tanking, and some interesting solutions to the problem. Sadly I don't have any links, but try searching for them in the Search Tab.
However, may I suggest using a Projectile weapon such as the Sub-Machine Gun or Combat Rifle? It's -5 / +10% damage profile along with the high ROF makes it the to-go weapon against dual tankers.

It does matter doesn't it?
Isn't that at least part of the reason CR/RR is so popular?
However it'd be nice if:
1: Sheilds and Armor had more balance (especially in terms if fittings).
2: There was something else to use high slots for. Unless you are a scout or sniper/FGer, shields seem the best investment.
2a: Shields and Damage mods sharing the same slots doesn't help. From a design perspective it makes sense for the low buffer/high regen tank to have greater damage potential...

Role bonus applies towards weapon.
Racial suit bonus applies to intended tanking type. Gallente reps are more efficient, Amarr plates are beefier, Caldari shields are thicker, and Minmitar shields have a quicker depletion regeneration recovery. All of these are applied at X% efficiency per level, and not some negligible 2% bonus, either. 5%, at least.

Sounds reasonable. I am unsure if my comment sounded sarcastic or not...either way, if you were to stack a lot of kin cats, the penalty would render it pointless, if you stacked stamina mods, you would just run for a long time and die extremely fast, and if you stack melee mods....well, you would die really fast but insta kill with melee attacks which seems balanced.

I would say the easy way might be turning the penalties up.
Shield extenders would cause a delay so long and regen slower that a shield based unit would want to use energizers and regulators.
Armor plates would make you so slow that you would be a sitting duck so you would definitely mix and match with either reps or kin cats and you would use damage mods because adding any shields would make your little shields take long to start recharging and would recharge even slower.

oh look done in one. And its basically the first layer of why you don't dual tank in eve. Unfortunately we still have to wade through all the other stupid on the forums and watch this get overlooked. |
