When it comes to Shield Extenders, the ridiculous fitting costs compared to Plates and the jagged scaling that makes it "Complex or don't bother" are far bigger issues than having a penalty.

It doesn't even make a big difference, its like 1 extra second of depleted repair. It is hardly noticeable.

It's "kinda" noticeable, especially when you're trying to make a decent shield fit with as low recharge time as possible :/

Although yes, extenders are pretty pointless that they just block 1 shot from most weapons.

The penalty discourages Extenders or nothing fits. While this can be done through via fittings alone using fittings alone starts to overly punish newer players who don't have sheild fitting skills and suit fitting skills.
As for the amount I feel its a bit too low from a math point of view but From a feeling point of view I dont feel its an issue.

I think the greater issue is poor scaling with extenders. The shield extenders should scale like armor, where the basic variant is fairly nice with slight boosts to adv then the jump to proto.
In my opinion the extenders should be:
MLT/STD: 33 ADV: 44 Pro: 66
The delay is supposed to be a rough equivalent mechanic to the fact that armor reduces speed. If they remove the delay then it's only fair that they remove the speed reduction on armor. |

Why have mods that are not being use by the " general " public and I say general because some used them but the numbers were not that noticeable I'm sure .
Most were dual tanking and using speed and reps . Oh yeah .. the handicapped that had to use three complex damage mods .
On a side note as being Caldari and a Sentinel , I sure could use an extra low slot so that I could make use of a reg without having to sacrifice my self regen . Just saying .
Also since they are giving role bonuses ... may I suggest a shield efficacy bonus for the Caldari assault ?
Some like the reload but " we " all know that they need a REAL ly useful bonus .
See how I suggested that and not made it an order of input ??? I'm trying to be honest and polite .
Thank you for your time .

I dont see the reason why the sheilds got nerfed so much. They need to give some higher stats for sheild extenders.
mlt/basic-25 adv-35 complex-45
Without changing skill n=bonuses this is what it should be.
Not to mention sheilds are really squishy right now. so either extend them or buff them but not both

If you stacked 5 extenders on a Min Assault it would be a 2.5 second additional delay

On depletion, which on a Minassault means you're pretty much dead anyway.
Not that I actually feel it's necessary.

Honestly, I think there need to be more variants of extenders. Here is my idea.
High Frequency Extenders: what we have now without the penalty and 15% lower fitting requirements. Provides lower ehp than ferroscale armor but fills the same role for shields.
Standard Frequency Extenders: what we have now with a 25% increase to ehp.
Low Frequency Extenders: 15% higher fitting, 60% higher ehp, current delay penalty, and add a scan profile penalty of 6/12/18%. This will be competitive against regular armor plates but still not match ehp and at the same time make you much more detectable.
And shields with these shields will still provide less ehp than armor while remaining more fitting intensive.
When I have more time I will come back and create a post on the feedback/requests forum actually doing all the math. Also I will add a link here.

The delay is a fair penalty, the proble is lack of power behind them.
At proto 1 plate is worth 2 extenders, which only gets worse as you go down the scale with a std plate worth nearly 8 extenders. This ratio needs to be adjusted. Such that
3 Extenders == 2 Plates 1 Extender == 1 Hybrid Plate (3 Hybrid Plates == 2 Plates) 3 Hybrid Extenders == 2 Extenders (4.5 Hybrid Extenders == 2 Plates)
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

Seriously...why does a basic armor plate have more HP than a complex shield...

Pumping up the HP value would just buff scouts further. Think we should avoid that. |
