Worked an all night shift on Thursday so I was home today to play at a time when few people I normally play with are around, so I decided to try grinding some spambush matches solo. The 2 vehicle rule has made a tremendous difference. Kudos to CCP for actually giving us 3 playable modes again!
On a related note: OMG LaZ0rZ!!!1!!1!@11!!!!
The Amarr assault bonus is working perfectly! I melted an entire 4 man team with a single beam. It is difficult to express in words just how freaking satisfying that was.

Depends. I use the ELM on my logi suit since I don't get the bonus. On my Templar assault I naturally use the Templar LR, the bonus still makes it super deadly and I think the whole suit costs me about 5000 ISK, mostly for the assault SMG and armor mods.

That's the damn truth... Lazor rifles melt my shield like a hot knife through butter... I am not a fan. However, because of how well they do their job, I'm thinking about grabbing a basic one and trying it out to see for myself how special and awesome it is. |

WTF are you talking about? I'm a logi, not a tanker. I'm totally fine with removing them completely from ambush but my point is that restricting it to 2 vehicles total has made a big difference.

i only have amarr assult 2 so i put my vizam laser on it and managed to melt an entire squad minus the heavy. the others were logis pointhoreing the heavy.

I'm pretty sure you've "enlightened" me with that beam on more than one occasion! In all honesty, that was a really comprehensive guide. Thanks for the info. My favorite part about it (from what I'm seeing in youtube videos) is the sight. That nice little dot in the middle that says "you are aiming here." That is just awesome. |

Indeed, I've found Ambush to be much more enjoyable since 1.8, provided Smart Deploy cooperates and Nyain isn't out shitting it up.

ambush is ok til about 1600-1700 DUST time. not so many of the tank spamming corps on til about then. lasers are a bit ridiculous again atm. not quite sure who at ccp thought they needed more damage it was mainly the max range. the new closer range is also pretty dumb too. thats the idea of your sidearm and for closer combat we have the ScR. Laser was supposed to be medium to long range keeping the red dots at a distance while allowing the rifle/hmg guys to deal with the ones that get through. i melted through a gallente heavy other day with my viziam from about 10-15m it really wants to be put back so they're at their best from 30m upwards ranges.
also make lasers more amarr specialized as they are in eve. double the heat build up and use the built in attributes like the hack bonus on logis and hp regen of gallente suits so that all amarr suits get a 25% heat reduction built in and the assault gets a further reduction. that way it focuses laser weapons (in eve all amarr ships get a capacitor reduction skill to lasers) also for the range issue introduce a skill along the line of 'Lens Crystal Calibration' for the laser rifle which gives better focusing of the beam at closer ranges.

The original concept for DUST had this. The Commander would sit in the warbarge, they could then choose out of the 6-8 vehicle limit what vehicles could be called in out of that number.
3 fighters 2 tanks 1 MAV and 2 LAV... for example.
You then had to go out and score a certain amount of warpoints before you could then call in your vehicle.
Was a solid concept... Sadly we got the half fast short sighted Vehicle and warpoint system we have now. |

I hope the 2 vehicle limit for all vehicles is temporary. It should be limited to 2hav, 2 lavs, 1 ads, and 1 logi dropship. They also need to finally fix the blobbing spawns. As soon as you die, smart depoy should spawn you in a completely new area random area 100 meters away from any enemies. Sometimes you don't even have a chance to get an uplink away from the crate or corner you spawned in.
I can tell something is wrong with the spawn code because no other game spawns the entire team within melee range of each other. |

God that would (and hopefully will) be so glorious. So much potential. Maybe for the PS5.

That's a definite pics or it didn't happen for me. He must have been standing completely still or AFK.
As for the weapon, it's still very situational and skill based if you ask me. There's little question it needed more damage at short range and a longer/wider optimal. The RRs long (or short!) range and high DPS needed a counter, it was crazy. Additionally, just like with the old QQ about the ScR, I see no problem with a weapon being devastating if you use it properly AND skill it up to proto AND skill a particular suit up to proto all at the same time. That's the whole point of Dust, isn't it? Specializing into a certain role to maximize your effectiveness?
That said, yes You can make an argument that in terms of niches the LR should certainly start being effective at 30 (which if you ask me is still true) but it should still be able to do something at short range, which it previously did not, and there absolutely needed to be a damage increase with tiers as well. There was really no point to using any but the std before.

I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

I ran Skirms almost exclusively since before 1.0, but this week it's been all Dom & Ambush. I got tired of going into every match with the exact same plan every ******* match. Deploy Scout, stop Uplink, Hack Charlie, Hack CRU, drop Uplink, Hack Bravo, collapse on Echo, take the pipes, etc...
Kill, kill, kill is the best way to try out all of this new gear and fittings. |
