^This. Being a creative omni-soldier helps me lots. Metagaming is great too. I have to admit that DUST was dying a slow death for me during 1.7 but I was still capping each week. When 1.8 dropped, despite the bugs and annoyances, the game perked up a lot for me. I play seriously whilst capping and then after that the fun and randomness starts. Once I get a new computer and capture card there will be even more fun to be had.
37mil SP and rising (skill list in sig).

Try building a different role to play. I run medic logi a lot. I also have an AoD and AV fit. I figure I won't have all of those speced out the way I want until I am 30-35 SP and that is with nothing in vehicles (though 2+ mill wasted on guns that I don't use anymore, and for the infiltrator role I used to run before 1.8).
If i want to run infiltrator again, I will need even more SP. |

Most of all, make friends. I play because I like my online friends more than anything. I spend more time joking in the war barge than in game.
I got there only playing Dust. I don't have any other games for my PS3 anymore. |

I love this game, and I've gotten quite a bit of enjoyment out of it in the past 9 months or so, but at just over 26 million SP, I'm having a lot of trouble getting up the desire to log in anymore. I've still got a few things to acquire that I want, getting that proto SMG and such and getting the skills up on that, but other than that, there's... not really much. A few things I sort of want, but nothing major. Maybe it's just the fact that I came over to this from Battlefield and I can't get any enjoyment out of the vehicles. Seriously, ADS's are boring to fly, it's more enjoyable for me to gun or fly for gunners, and tanks... ugh... I used to enjoy tanks, now... not so much. Maybe it was just the fact that they were risky to use and there weren't many good tankers, but the tanks now are just really meh.
So, again, for those with relatively high levels of SP, what keeps you playing on the same maps against the same people over and over again? I'd like to find more ways to enjoy the game in between patches, but at the moment, I've got nothing.

My main character had about 24mil SP when I just stopped playing on it. Being an assault character along with a corp leader just wasn't fun anymore and I needed a major break. Instead I jumped onto my dropship character who had about 5mil SP accrued passively and now I just run dropships all the time.
So I just changed my role completely and abandoned all my leadership roles. I still take breaks from the game every once in a while but it generally stays pretty fresh and fun. |

switch roles a lot. seriously I can do just about everything in this game, being able to play the game a different way every week helps a lot to stem the boredom.
I don't suggest it for new players, but for 20 mil + like yourself that finds themselves getting bored, learn a new weapon, ghet a new suit, start into vehicles. switch it up |

Nearing 40 mil SP....
I trained everything gallente logi starting in 1.0 Then around 1.7 I started training into REs and Scouts, which is single handedly the most fun you can have with a scout. I love the rag-doll effects on mercs when they asplode. Also, blowing up tanks with REs and no cloak. I haven't trained the cloak yet During the training of scouts, I also trained forges to 5 to blow up tanks and DS with. The joy of taking down a DS solo is great. Just gotta learn to lead properly based on their speed and distance. Then i started into vehicles, tanks and ADS, I have pro large blaster and rail, adv large missile and pro small missile and the core's up to 4 or 5 for vehicles
The key to keeping the game fresh is changing your playstyle and learning different suits/weapons |

Dust used to be about personal skill progression... Getting better at DUST as a whole everytime you played.. To the point where you could take that skill to a 500k SP Alt and perform well. That feeling is what Made DUST addicting all through beta and even through one of the worst build implementations with Uprising launch.
That is gone.
Dust right now is mainly just about Character progression... Getting more SP and ISK... And after you have a giant pile of ISK and SP... The game ... kinda looses point.
The only two saving factors is social and competition... So Friend circles and PC competition or aspirations along with the drive to fully use or tests the ISK and SP you have acquired..
DUST has lost that magical spark that made people spend every gaming moment on it.. |

I'm at nearly 50 mil SP and I still love Dust. It pisses me off when I have to play so often with 10 or more blueberries who are derping around failing to realize that R1 fires their weapon.
As others have said, I switch roles. My dropsuit upgrades is maxed out and I've got 20 mil SP in weapons so now I can get to ADV in a suit and have something new to do.
I'm really, really ready for some new maps and game modes though.

In the 11 months I've played Dust, I've only accumulated under 10 million SP (NO, I said that right, TEN milion SP). I don't belong on your thread! Haven't earned the right to post here.
Dust 514 is CCP's first attempt at the Playstation Console platform. They mentioned it could take about 7 years to unlock all the SP areas and gear... but I bet they are only beginning to learn the addiction-factor that revolves around CONSOLE gaming (maybe much more than PC? I dunno).
I only have 10 mmillion SP (8 million of it already spent) because I had a set goal in mind from my second month playing, and I controlled myself NOT to train in anything much else. So I am a NON-addict. I stay in the game because it's boldness and wierd departure from the REGULAR fps, and it's ultimate goal to become a networked contracts-based environment linked to an whole 10-year community of PC players, is something I'd like to experience and be part of.
ADDICTION, is what drives most everyone else who stays in this game long enough to fatten up on 20 million SP or more in less than a year.
God bless you folks for being able to do that and still be human---I could never do that. Not even for games I thought I was "addicted to". |

There are 2 ways:
- Protostomp other players with full teams and possibly q-sync squads
- Try new or UP things (PLC, ion pistol)
The unnamed new build it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes..

I don't have protoype of every weapon and suit yet and I would like to see how quickly they all kill. I don't play just one suit type - I play them and change up when I get tired of one and then cycle through. I don't stagnate my game play - I dabble in everything until I am very comfortable. It's why my KDR fluctuates match to match - you may see me go 15-1 and then 4-9 because I switched tactics to try something new (either approach, or suit, or weapon, etc). |

Downhill LAVing. Find a steep hill, or a tall tower, REs on LAV, fuel injector, drive off the edge hitting the nitro. For the mountain, I usually end up cartwheeling down after hitting a invisible rock, usually end up on fire or respawning. Or just turning every map into NFS.
Sidearm and Light Weapon Scout, I use 'em all.
