It's an issue i've had come up multiple times, it's potentially vehicle related given my personal experiences but i can't confirm. Anyway, it's as the topic implies - my vehicle (tank in this case) will explode and I will have "Committed Suicide" with more than enough time left on the timer on screen.

This happens to me all the time. Look at the counter closely, it jumps back and forth instead of counting down properly. Heavily affected by lag.
example in a laggy match you might see
5.86 5.75 5.80 5.69
as it tries to count down but somehow rolls back and forth.
Regardless of what the timer says, you will die in the red line when you are supposed to, but the counter is lying to you.
CCP please fix this bug ! |

Here's a thought stay out of the red if you can help it! Think of it as a mine field, that you just don't want to risk your vehicles in. I should blow up at random just as if you hit a land mine in some cases. |

In a perfect world the redline would be so far removed from the area of battle that this wouldn't even be an issue worth discussing. As is, and with the need to go into the redline to take out targets that can abuse its mechanics (rail tanks or snipers), we need a timer that actually work in game. In its current state the timer telling you how much longer you're supposed to have is not working and should be fixed.

I think you are confusing needs with desires/wants. What is a sniper going to do to you as long as you are in your tank, nothing! The range on a rail gun tank is the same as the others get a real gun tank and that's that.
P.S. Us a sniper fit to take out red lined snipers that's what the reset of us do, you don't need a tank to kill one guy do u? Get on the ground and point and shot. Only thing that really needs fix here is insta death for getting on top of the MCC now that is BS. |

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the timer being broken. If the intended design was that the redline would act like a "mine field" then there would be no need for such a timer to begin with, it's clear that the timer is there to gauge how much time you can spend in said zone and that timer is misleading in its current state.
The sniper example is for infantry who need to access the redline for X Y or Z reasons, there are certainly map layouts that allow a redline sniper to cover a point with ease and until such a time where the redline's safety can't be abused there will always be a need to venture into it in order to dispose of certain threats.

If that is the case would it not be far easier to just add more things/objects in the line of sight of the sniper, so if someone on a objective they will be safe, unless you are right on top of them? I do see your point that the time is an issues but factoring in latency from the time it takes to hit 00:00:00:00 on your screen its already been 00:01:45:98 so a more safer way of not getting to that point is STFO of there and you will not have that issue. So what you don't kill a tank by getting in its face big deal your most likely in a pub match anyways that don't really matter! I guess that's all of them for the moment, This is really nothing it works fine 80% of the rest of the time.

It's not nothing, it's a bug and this forum is dedicated to the reporting of said bugs. If, by your account, 20% of the time this is an issue then its still an issue that should be addressed in some form.
I didn't really make this thread to discuss the merits of the redline in the game.

Im gonna say something that may or may not help u ,but I figured it out from an experience of my own .I think that Vihicles have their own redline timer .
