I think cloaks are kind of dumb because a good scout shouldn't even need a cloak. Unfortunately, I doubt they will be removed. |

Yes people we will never get any good new content because every time someone gets killed by the next new thing the forums lights up with a chorus of NERF THIS /BUFF THAT!!!.
at this rate we should have a complete game by ohhh 2016 or so.
does the cloaking to uncloaking need a small delay before a weapon can be fired yes, I'd say enough time that you are visible to your intended victim. so .5 of a second delay, maybe a little longer maybe little shorter
does it need to be nerfed out of use for the people who want to use it. HELL NO!!
ohh I don't normally scout so no I am not trying to protect my play style.. I advocate for all play styles |

Cloaks aren't going to be "removed". They're a huge part of the game, and always will be. EWAR, scanning and hiding, are a huge part of what makes this game a tactical/strategic game, and not just a run of the mill twitch shooter. If you're dying to cloaks often, you should be keeping a better eye out for them.
There is an issue with how fast you can fire after decloaking, and hopefully they'll adjust that a bit, but this is really a game mechanic you'll need to get used to, as it's going to be a core part of scouts going forward.

Hopefully CCP nerfs it heavily after 6-7 months, depending on when they feel like it. |

Agreed. It is a balance issue. I would agree with the slight delay between uncloaking firing. I would also like to see something to stop the uncloak, fire, cloak, rinse, repeat over and over. This will prevent a scout running into a spread group of 5-6 guys and cloak/shotgunning each of them because he is cloaked back up before anyone can see him.
As to the last comment, I agree. I'm not a scout at all. Personally, I love it when I see a cloaked scout coming at my commando and I swap from a CR to a shotgun and blast them in the face before they can get a shot off. Pisses them off to no end and I have a good laugh over it. Most don't expect to come across a commando rocking a shotgun.

Do you really have that much trouble killing something if it's not brightly lit up by a glaring red chevron?

I love shotgunning with my gal commando. There are few better feelings than OHK a scout out of his cloak. As if we can't see the big blue blur....

Are you playing the same game as the rest of us? Scouts are definitely the big bad wolf at this point.
They have a massive impact on a battle, much more so than other suits in this build. Fixing the cloak delay would be a good start towards realigning them with other classes. I would also like to see a change to the CPU/PG of the Gal & Cal scouts which currently need to make no compromises when fitting (this is a glaring issue with heavies too).
Hit detection issues game wide also make scouts a major issue, though this is a whole game issue not just a scout one.

When you see 10 of the 16 enemys are scouts with cloak you know there is a problem. Anyone who's not noticing that has a problem. Some builds before it was the caldari logi then it was all logis after that HAVs after that CR/RR now scouts with cloak. I believe they made it a policy that every new thing must be OP. When will this end CCP ??? Balance what you have make it work smooth and then add carefully new things. Not having fixed the PLC is saying everything about this game. |

There's a misconception that a cloak "belongs" to the scout. They may get a huge bonus, but the cloak can be used by other classes too. The cloak is fine the way it is, and the scout is fine the way it is. And I'm not a scout and frequently get killed by them! I get killed by more tanks though. |

The big difference is that all other suites are sacrificing a lot more to use cloaks. Refusing to realize that there is a problem with scouts is childish. A penalty for the cloak must be introduced. Like shield extenders and armor plates go offline when cloak is active. This way smart players who spot cloaked players will be rewarded with a kill. |

Guns kill me too much - they should be removed and everyone should be given bananas instead. When your banana runs out, you drop the skin on the floor and can trip people up on them.
Oooor - do that damn balance pass on the mediums that should have been done with scouts and heavies in 1.8 and make assaults so they're not out-assaulted by scouts. Fix the decloak-insta-shoot bug (confirmed as a bug by CCP Rattati yesterday) too. Don't touch a damned other thing in the whole game until those 2 things are done.

Every single match I am in, I'm able to kill a scout that is cloaked because I'm able to see him when I move my eyeballs around. There are spots where they will want to ambush you from, be careful when rounding corners. If you've been moving in one direction for more than a moment, check your six because there is more than likely a cloacked scout coming with a shotgun.

There isn't a problem with scouts or cloaks. The problem is with cloakers with any weapon that can one-shot from close range. But even that can be easily countered by a good squad. Making shield extenders and armor plates go offline is stupid. As I've pointed out in other threads, a cloak is useful for anti-tanking - for scouts and logi (between logi's, mostly the Amarr logi). Doing that would destroy that role. And besides, what most people complain about is getting shot in the back! If you can't see them cutting their armor isn't going to do ****. It's just going to hurt other roles. The scout goes down pretty fast if they are seen. All it takes is for one person to see them to alert their squad and within 3-5 seconds he's found and killed. |
