How much are you skilled into the sniper rifles? If you're barely skilled into it I would take it one step at a time. Start with with basic. Once you get comfortable with that move up to advanced (lvl 3). Then move up to 4. Nothing is worse than spending a bunch of SP to get to proto only to find out you hate something.

I started out sniping because I snipe in other FPS games. I pretty much abandoned it because of how boring it was and how few points I was getting. I only snipe when there are other enemy snipers, only for the thrill of sniping them and watch them squirm (you have to be well hidden in non-obvious spots). I recently took out 3 snipers on a tower with proto gear with a lvl 1 tactical sniper from the ground. It was awesome. But I logi most of the time.

SCP and IP user, watch out for that +60 951k SP and counting

I enjoy sniping, its just finding the right spots and tightening my aim. Sidearm and Light Weapon Scout, I use 'em all. SCP and IP user, watch out for that +60 951k SP and counting

Its funny, when I first sniped, I always had my nano right next to me, and never got counter sniped. Now that I hide it, I get sniped a lot more. I don't know.
