So, As the title sates. I really want to go to Fanfest. Not this year but hopefully next year's. So I want to know how much do you have to waste?

Flights - depends on where you are Ticket - Gé¼120ish IIRC Ride to Reykjavik from the airport (about 45 mins) 4-5 nights accommodation 4-5 days food (expensive as hell in Iceland)
It can be costly but good grief is it worth it if youre a fan. I went last year and had a ball. Can't go this year but WILL be there next year.

Had a brief look, seems like you'd pay $1200-1500 for a return ticket from the states. I think $5000 would be quite a luxurius budget and you could probably get away with 3.5K depending on how frugal you are, maybe less.

Everyone should go at least once, just to see the spectacle lol Then decide if they want to redo it again (I know I do)

Iceland is a great place, but I'm not sure I'd go there just for EVE.
If I were you, I'd seriously consider extending your trip so that you can visit places like skatafoss and other absolutely amazing places (although I can't speak for the weather).

There's a ton of beautiful scenery out here. I personally love Iceland (and my lungs are finding relief after the air in Shanghai... :) The weather's also been fairly mild since I arrived a few days ago.

Buying fresh air isn't normal. In Shanghai it is. Shanghai - Not even once.

The fresh air is something else. Not sure if if the purity of the water they use to make their beer or that air but during my last two Fanfest, I've drunk obscene amounts of mixed beers and brenivinn that would normally give me a two day hangover.
In Iceland, wake up and ready to go.
I'm not dismissing the chance that I might just be spending the whole time drunk and not allowing the hangover.

Yeah if you go to Iceland youve gotta go look around, its a beauitful country. The Blue Lagoon and the volcanos, like Eyjafjallaj+¦kull (the one that screwed up Europe in 2010) are a must visit, as well as all of Reykjavik. I went there for a week last year, may go for fanfest next year also!

Personally when I used to come to Fanfest from Australia I could do the whole thing under $2500 AUD. If you know some other people going, try to book a house rather than a hotel and split the cost, it's much cheaper.

All about the accommodation and flight. If you book them months ahead and look for some deals you can cut your cost in half.
Food is alright, Every bit of food you buy in restaurants is amazing. Iceland is a Seafood rich place though.. So if you aren't into that beef can get expensive quick.
A couple friends go yearly and they do the trip comfortably for 2k-2500 bux USD. But they plan for the trip all year. Usually they say the biggest expense is the booze |
